vivelle patches
Two questions.............
1- Is there a recommended way to get the adhesive off my skin?
2- Is there a pharmacy that sells them not too expensive? My insurance doesn't cover them and it's $378 for a one month supply at freedom!!
Thanks ladies!!

Re: vivelle patches
I'll respond as I sit on the floor waiting for quest to open. The patches totally seem fine at first, but they're not fun. The adhesive is super annoying. I used baby oil. It helped, but it still isn't that easy to get it off. I'd love to hear any other suggestions that might work. I found putting the baby oil on an hour before the shower and leaving it on made it easier to scrub off the adhesive once showering. As for the cost, I'm in the exact same boat because we have the same insurance. I think the best we can do is pray it works so we only need three months worth.

Re: vivelle patches
I used baby oil as well. I would also put both patches on the same side and then would alternate when they needed to be changed. that way I was always starting fresh and not getting baby oil on the new patches. The baby oil worked really well for me I would apply it directly after taking them off and that would get 90% then again before getting in the shower. Good Luck

Re: vivelle patches
i was never able to successfully get the vivelle gunk off. i used alcohol which was only mildly effective. i couldnt really use baby oil because the patches left me really rashy. i had itchy squares of red that lasted weeks after my last patches were removed. i switched sides every application but i started running out of room due to the rashes.
as far as cost goes my insurance covered like 16 patches per month even though my script was for 45 per month (3 every other day). sometimes when kraupners filled the script they would send estroderm instead of vivelle. it was SLIGHTLY cheaper but the patches are terrible. they were larger and thick and looked like they had some kind of gel between the plastic. they also made me rashy.
these patches really just sucked but you gotta do what ya gotta do!!

Re: vivelle patches
Oh fab. I'm on them this cycle as well- for the first time. I have adhesive remover prep pads that I used to use to remove the electrode pad adhesive when I used to wear a Cardionet heart monitor. I'm hoping it's the same type of adhesive and they'll work in the same way. They are called Preppies. I used to get real red, itchy and rashy- looking forward to this nonsense again.
I never looked in to seeing if they are covered or not. I have three boxes now so hopefully that's all I'll need!

if you are on a dr. B IVF protocol and you get a BFP you'll def need more. his regular protocol is 3 patches every other day. im pretty sure i had to do that til about 10w or so!!

So it's the patches or the delestrogen injections? Because I've never been on the patches before.
