vitamins- 1 year old
So we got a prescription for vitamins at baby;s 1 year check up. so these are nasty! taste and smell. He threw up once from it but not sure if because he is sick anyway. I've been doing in evening because thats when I take mine but going to start the morning this way if he doesn't take it then i have all day to work with it. I am going to try to slip it into morning milk??? any other suggestions or is there another brand thats more pleasurable to take? I am surprised they didnt hide it with a flavor -they know he is one?!

If you child can do a chewable - they are much more palatable... I gave it to my first straight - but it ended up causing stains on his teeth. With DD I put it in her milk or appleasauce...no complaints.

I put it in dd's milk... If she doesn't finish the entire bottle, I don't stress out over it.

My pediatrician said do not give vitamins in the milk. Milk doesnt allow the body to absorb the minerals. we put it juice/water.

Calcium prohibits the absorption of iron and other minerals, so putting them in the milk isnt a good idea. Have you tried putting them in the fridge?

We use the OTC polyvisol. It is gross. I mix it in with their cereal in the morning and they gobble it down.

My pediatrician also said NOT to put the vitamins in milk (we were originally doing this). My son is now 18 months and still gets his vitamin every day in a small amount of apple juice. Hides the taste and smell well.

I know what you mean. I just picked up DS vitamins yesterday and tasted it out of curiosity; it tasted bitter. Also, DS made a face and shook his head when I gave it to him.
I gave it to him again today and he made the same face. I'm thinking of putting it in his juice.

Grape juice really hides the taste. I always put it in juice.
