Visiting a Newborn
Do you usually wait to be "invited" to see a newborn/visit the parents once they are home from the hospital or do you offer to go? Not sure what the proper etiquette is on this.

Re: Visiting a Newborn
I usually call the person and say something like....if you are up for visitors next week I'd love to come by.

Re: Visiting a Newborn
I'd call and offer up a time to stop by. If they are like me, they are consumed with everything else they don't think to call and invite people.

Visiting a Newborn
Most of my friends/family called me and asked if they could come over. Unless it was a particularly hectic day or I already had to many people there, I always said yes. New parents love showing off their babies to the people they love!

Re: Visiting a Newborn
I agree call them. I have a baby a little over a week and I am in a fog.

Visiting a Newborn
As a patient in the hospital they would just show up. I wouldn't personally invite them. At home they would give me a heads up and give me the option to say yes or no. I've only visited immediate family or extremely close friends in the hospital and wait for an invite from all the others.

Re: Visiting a Newborn
If they didn't call to ask to come over, they wouldn't have come! I was in no mood to be inviting people- but if they asked to come I'd of course welcome them in!

Visiting a Newborn
I don't invite. I'm too involved with her but I love visitors and never say no. Everyone just calls or texts to ask if they can come over. I never say no. My only request is after 11 as that's when our day starts.

Re: Visiting a Newborn
many people came to the hospital, which i did not mind, but my room was so small and the first night I shared it so it was just soooo crowded.
once I was home everyone asked if/when they could come by and we told them as soon as they wanted. I knew everyone wanted to meet him and it was nice to see people.
