Visit with Freddy today
He was talking about getting out of there. We had a nice visit, he is much more interactive now, meaning he takes initiative. The recreational therapist suggested I start pushing to get him into North Shore and not wait for the insurance company to determine it. So I will call the social worker and try to get the communication going.
He has expressed an interest in doing his models that he loves. He builds cars, airplanes and boats...he has a giant collection. So tomorrow I will bring him some and the therapists have arranged for him to use one of the therapy rooms to build them.
He's getting there and remembering more little by little.

 I am so happy to hear this! Every update gets better and better. I'm sure he will really enjoy getting back into doing the models! And it can help keep him busy through out the day.

I bought him two model cars at Kmart in Penn Station this morning. I could have spent 3 hrs there shopping. That place has everything!
So I was schlepping his laundry, then the bag from kmart, my bag that has some personal stuff in it and my bag.
I was a bag lady. Then of course I stopped for a starbucks.
Dh and I will go tonight to see him after work.

I had both of my parents at the CECR at North Shore at the same time in different units. They treated them and the the family very well.

thanks. I visited the place and it seems good for him in the TBI unit. It's a small unit with only 22 beds but part of the rehab unit. I'm hoping soon we can get Freddy there. He's bored and fed up with the hospital.
I just spoke with the social worker and they will review his case on Monday. I want him to get the most out of the hospital rehab because it's very intense but maybe a change of scenery would be good for him. Also the location would be better for everyone.
