Virus lasting more than 2 weeks
My DD was diagnosed with a virus. Her only symptom is diarrhea. But it's been going on now for almost 12 days and doesn't seem to be getting any better. the stool is still often and still gross. We took her to the doctors office twice and they just keep saying wait it out but online and even from the doctors mouth they have told us less than 2 weeks. but it appears that it will be lasting more than 2 weeks which scares me. did this happen to anyone else? any advice? how much longer do we need to suffer through this?

Virus lasting more than 2 weeks
2 weeks is a long time to have diarrhea. I would be concerned as well. The longest DD had a virus was 10 days. I wonder if its a food allergy?

Re: Virus lasting more than 2 weeks
YES. We just went through this a few weeks ago with DS, who is 3.5 and NEVER gets sick. He's never had a stomach bug, so this was new for us. He complained of a bellyache and then would have dirrhea. It was even waking him at night. He had no other symptoms, but we saw the ped around day 10. He said it was a virus, and had us cut out all dairy and do a modified BRAT diet (tough with a picky 3yr old). We had already started using the powder probiotic and Pedilite. By day 14 he was no longer complaining of a bellyache but it was another week or so before his poop was somewhat normal again. Good luck. I hope your DD feels better soon!

Thanks. DD never got sick before either so this is all new. The virus was determined via stool. We are doing brat and pedialyte but when we stop constipating her it comes back the same as before so thats how we know she isn't doing any better. She is on day 12 now I believe so hopefully it will be resolved by the weekend. What probiotic do you use?
