viral rash? 12 months old?
On Saturday, DD and DS (12 months) got their 2nd round of Hep B and Prevnar vaccines. I noticed DD's butt was red on Sunday night - all down the crack. I just did Desitin and it was better. It's been on and off intermittently. Sunday we started them on milk bottles and weaning off formula. She doesn't appear uncomfortable, no blistering, just red in the crack. She's also had a bunch of nasty poop so I attributed it to that partially. She was irritable and clingy on Wednesday. Wednesday and Thursday night DS was up at 1 AM screaming and just not his normal self. A bottle calmed him down and he went back to bed (he hasn't taken a mid night bottle in a few weeks).
Today my dad said her diaper rash was worse while I was at work. At 2 pm he gave her an apple and ginger Ella's kitchen cookie, which she'd never had before. At 2:30 they got baths and he noticed that her legs looked like they were sunburnt.
I was home by 4 and she just wanted me and was horribly clingy. Didn't want to be put down. It didn't seem to hurt to the touch or bother her, but it was definitely red on her thighs and back of her calves.
I called the doctor worried that it was a milk allergy or reaction to the shot or allergy to the ginger cookie and he said 1/2 tsp of Benadryl and it sounds like a viral rash. ?! If the Benadryl didn't make the rash go away, it was definitely viral. Check for temperature and rash on face overnight.
Fast forward 2 hours and DS has the same rash on his butt and upper leg.
It must be viral, right? Any BTDT advice? I didn't even know it was possible for them to have been sick already without me realizing! I feel so bad. They don't seem bothered by it.

Re: viral rash? 12 months old?
hmm thats weird. i would be concerned as well! I haven't had that with DS but could it possibly be teething? His behavior is like that (clingy and cranky for no reason) when he is teething and i think he just got molars in at 12 mths (not sure if molars but they are in the back) I think rashes are common when teething?
