I have two dogs, one beagle 11.5 years old and one 3 year old beagle shepherd. Beagle needed back surgery 7 years ago and that made a big dent in our finances so we are cautious. We have been taking our pets to N. Shore because years ago they were more affordable than a private vet. Now they are getting more $$$ and is a drive from our south shore home. Any suggestions? I am in Nassau County.

Re: vet dr ...suggestions needed

I always loved Massapequa Hospital for animals because my sister was a vet tech there and we got free care for our animals there because of that.

The place is very clean and they take of their animals there. They have a few examination rooms. They have separate dog and cat rooms and a room for surgery (I’ve been in all these rooms with my sister). They have regular dog walkers and a nice dog run. The vet techs really take care of the animals if they need to stay overnight. I’m not just saying this because of my sister, but they really give extra love to the animals.

That being said, I never liked Dr. Schatz there. However, Dr. Fish is amazing. He’s very caring. Ask for him. He helped a lot with all of my cats growing up.
