Very Scary Experience this Morning...repost from Parenting
For those of you who are thinking about getting bumpers or have bumpers for your crib......
My Dh and I just transitioned our 3 month old Chat Icon into his crib last week and he's been doing great Chat Icon. I never thought to take off the bumpers and remove some of the stuffed animals, because he isn't rolling over yet and doesn't move around much. We just had the conversation this week that we should remove the bumpers. My Dh talked to his Mom and she mentioned how when he was little his arm got stuck and that they are more so for decoration than any thing else. Low and behold I didn't remove the bumpers, because again, my lil man isn't all that mobile yet. Very stupid move on this Mommys part. Fast forward to this morning. I watch my Chat Icon on the video monitor throughout the night. He was fine all night. I get up around 6am and look and I don't see his head on the monitor. I go to prepare his bottle and as I'm doing this, he starts to scream. I go to his room and his head is completely under the bumper. My non-mobile son somehow managed to push himself back and he got stuck. I almost died. Thank gosh he was alright...I'm beside myself. Thank gosh we never tied the bumper on tight otherwise this could've been an even worse situation. My moral of the story.....NO BUMPERS in the crib. For you ladies looking for or that have the breathable bumpers, it took nothing for my son to get caught underneath. I don't know how these work, but I would reconsider not having bumpers at all. I was stupid and should've never had them in the first place. I'm a new Mommy and I'm learning...this was a huge mistake Chat Icon I post this because maybe I can help some one else!
Best of luck to all you ladies....I miss being pregnant....but being a Mommy is the most blessed thing....
