Very bad diaper rash while on antibiotics...
...are there any tricks to helping it? He is pooping so much from the antibiotics. I already have him on probiotics, checking his diaper very often, letting him 'air out' and loading him up with triple paste. It only started today but it's so bad already!!!!

Just for kicks is it omnicef ( turns poop like a reddish color). I always give ds cheese when he is on them, it helps. Also TONS of water. Yogurt will help also. My mom would put plain yogurt on my nephews when it was really bad. Believe it or not it helped.

James is just getting over a horrible diaper rash from being on Omnicef for 10 days.  He had 6 decent-sized open sores on his tush and his whole area was completely fire-engine red. After a week of using Triple Paste, I finally called the doc and got him an anti-fungal. Within 48 hours, it cleared up. It's not completely gone, but a million times better than it was.

It's actually only amoxicillin---but I know omnicef well, did that with my older DS who also got a horrible rash! I just don't remember it getting bad so fast!

See if you can get a quick prescription for an antifungal!! My sons diaper rash cleared right up by putting that on the area and then diaper cream over it.
ALSO-there is something they sell in CVS (or any pharmacy) that gets dissolved in a bath (doctor told me to fill the sink and let it dissolve in there and then sit DS in it). It was about $20 for it but supposedly it works wonders. I didn't have to use it because the antifungal started working really fast, but i hear this stuff is great. I'll see if i can find the name (any pharmacist should be familiar with it too, i remember it being near the childrens section). Good luck!!

I was just telling Salason today that my go to remedy is equal parts of:
Mylanta (original only - no mint)
Triple Paste
Cornstarch Powder
Mix them together in a container but be a little more generous with the triple paste. Apply at each diaper change.
I have also used Lotrimin (jock itch cream - not athlete's foot) for some rashes.
