Vent and looking for recs

So what is up with contractors not showing up for appointments on time? Is there just so much work out there that they don't care or don't need any new jobs?

We are looking to replace and remove/move some windows in the back of our second floor. We need new siding where the windows are removed/moved. We will also need more work in the future like replacing the rest of the windows and siding. We had two guys come last week. The first guy was okay and gave us an okay price but we wanted to find out if it was an average price by getting a few more estimates. The second guy who came I really don't even want to discuss because he was telling us about how he was in the process of suing a former client. Talk about a good first impression.

Then today my DH set up an appointment at 1pm and told them that his wife (me) would be going home on lunch for the appointment that they need to be there at 1 or we will reschedule. So I go home and wait and wait and wait. They never showed. No phone call, nothing. My DH even called to confirm this morning and reminded them that they needed to be prompt.

Are we crazy for expecting a contractor to be on time to the FIRST appointment?

Does anyone have a rec for a RELIABLE contractor in the South Nassau area?

Re: Vent and looking for recs

That is really unprofessional.

DH is a contractor, and often because it's hard for him to leave a job to look at something smack in the middle of the day, he will make an appt in the early evening which tends to be more convenient for him and the homeowner.

He also sets up appts to give estimates on weekends.
