Vent about Dr office
Seriously, why have scheduled appointment times if it's "first come first serve?"
Let me preface by saying my Dr. is always running behind. She told us this in the very beginning. Fine, I can deal with that. What I can't deal with, is someone being called in who had an appointment AFTER me, because as the receptionist said "she was there first"
I had a 6:30pm appointment today, I got there at 6:20 signed in, handed the girl my insurance card and paper. I go and sit down. There are at least 6 women ahead of me, fine.. their appointments were before me. I'm sitting next to this woman and her daughter, whom I assume was her first visit to the gyno, she seemed to be around 16. It's now 7:20 and I still haven't been seen yet and the woman with her daughter asks me what time my appointment was for. I tell her 6:30, and she tells me her daughters was for 6:45. 10 minutes later the nurse comes out to call in the next person who should be me. But instead calls in the woman and her daughter. I was like W T F???? So I go and ask the receptionist why she was called in before me and she tells me that she got there at 6:15 and I got there at 6:27. I corrected her and showed her I signed in at 6:20, but she was busy yaking away and didn't enter me into the computer right away. So I asked her why they schedule appointments then if they're going to take whoever comes in first. Of course she had no answer for me and just said, "well if you have to use the restroom, I can give you a cup now"
So aggrevating!
On a good note, got to hear the little ones heartbeating away. Apparently baby was moving all over the place because she kept having to move the doppler to catch the heartbeat.
I'm soooo in

Re: Vent about Dr office
seriously, the part to me is that it was 7:20 and you weren't going home by that time!
There's no excuse for a Dr's office to be prepetually running so late and wasting everyone's time. It's disrespectful to the patients.
If I have a 1pm appt at my OB, I show-up at 12:58 and usually am called in by 1:05. I'd be leaving the office before 1:40. IMO, you shouldn't be reguarly waiting more than 15 min......

Re: Vent about Dr office
I wasn't too extreamly upset about that. From late afternoon until they close on their late night there is just one doctor there, and there had been an emergency with someone that delayed all the appointments.
I was more upset at the fact that it seemingly didn't matter if you had an appointment or not. I did mention it to the Dr. though. And once I was brought in the exam room, I was out the door 10 minutes later.

Re: Vent about Dr office
I honestly do not get where doc offices get off these days.
I am STILL waiting for a call back to SCHEDULE an appt from yesterday. The person I spoke to "doesn't do that" and someone else has to call me back.
I cannot deal with the bullshite that docs inflict on us-- forget about the insurance companies!
I wait for a long time at my doc too-- it's really annoying.

Re: Vent about Dr office
I found out my doc's office works this way too. I don't love they way it's done, but I am going to use it to my advantage. I have an appointment on Thursday and I am going to show up extra early to get my name on the list and go in first

I know how you feel. I don't have the same problem with my doctir, but today I waited over 1hr. for my appt. which took only 5-10 min.

Re: Vent about Dr office
I found out that my Dr. books three people at the same time and its first come, first serve as well. Its really annoying but it did work to my advantage last time since I ran from the elevator to beat this girl who was heading the same way I got called first even though we really got there at the same time.

Re: Vent about Dr office
wow, yeah that is annoyng. makes you wonder if most doctor offices do that - go by appointment time or the time you signed in. If you hadn't been talking to that lady, you wouldn't have known your appointment was first.
Glad you got to hear the happy heartbeat though!!

Re: Vent about Dr office
I hate that about Dr's offices. It bothers me when they schedule multiple people for the same time. I always have to wait and one time i was late and they wrote 5 MINUTES LATE on the top of my chart. I was so angry especially when it still took 40 minutes to see the dr.
