VENT - no car seat!

I was coming home from Emmas gymnastics today and she did such a good job I told her I would get her some M&Ms. I go to the deli and as Im pulling out I see a red beat up truck with 3 adults in it and a woman holding a 3-4month old baby on her lap. They pulled into the Town Hall parking lot and got out. I pulled away mad because I spend $$$ and time to make sure my babies are as safe as they can be in the car and here are people who have no regard for the law or safety of the baby. I pull back into the parking lot to get the plate number and call the police and let them know when I see a policeman going into the deli. I pull beside him and let him know about the baby not in a seat. I point out the car and he says "Ok, thanks" and turns and walks into the deli!!! I sat and watched him walk back to the police station, watched the people with the baby get back in the car and drive away. Chat Icon Obviously the life of that defensless baby means nothing to that police man or he would have done something. Oh, Im so mad!!!

That makes me mad also. I don't understand why people are so careless with children's lives. There are lots of places where people can get them for free if they can't afford it.

A few months ago we were driving and I looked over to the car next to us. There was a 3 or 4 yr old girl sitting in the front seat with NO seatbelt while the adult had their's on.

i agree. the no car seat thing really infuriates me!!! maybe the cop can't technically give them a citation, b/c they weren't IN the car driving with the baby when he was there. he obviously couldn't hang around to WAIT for them to get back in the truck with the baby. Chat Icon

i agree. the no car seat thing really infuriates me!!! maybe the cop can't technically give them a citation, b/c they weren't IN the car driving with the baby when he was there. he obviously couldn't hang around to WAIT for them to get back in the truck with the baby.

I know but its in the TOWN HALL parking lot which is RIGHT NEXT TO the police station in Riverhead. It was a matter of MAYBE 5 minutes between the time I told the cop and the time they drove away... The cop was also WALKING he didnt have a car. He could have called someone. He could have went into Town Hall to look for them. I just feel like he blew me off.

You have no idea how SICK this makes me. I actually give people a piece of my mind when I see it. I dont get it some people cant have children and others are just willing to throw them away.

I love how when you see a mini van or an SUV and the kids are just walking around and jumping around W T F!!!!!

One day Mike came home and said "its a good thing you werent with me" I said why? And he said he saw them driving in their mini van and their son (who is 2) was standing up holding on to the front seat wearing no clothes.

I actually called CPS about that and they asked me "has the child ever been injured" And I said im really not sure I hope not. But that is what Im trying to avoid. and CPS told me unless the child was hurt while riding in the car and standing there is nothing they could do Chat Icon SO in other words when the kid gets thrown out of the car and pray to god doesnt die then CPS can get involved????

She also would just put the baby carrier on the floor never strap it to a seat

well, i guess he couldn't spare the 5 minutes it would have taken, to possibly save an innocent life!! some people just shouldn't be in the profession theyre in!!!
