vendor rave - NEW BABY BELLY, massapequa
DH and i have been to several classes at New Baby Belly in massapequa, and i had to come on and share w you ladies, my wonderful experiences at this place.
by far my favorite class was last night's childbirth education class. it's a lamaze class, and last night was our first of a 2-session class and we already feel we've gotten our money's worth. i have been feeling very overwhelmed and stressed about labor, worrying about how long i'll go, if they'll try to push an unnecessary c on me, how to know when to go to the hospital, etc. i already feel at SUCH great ease having taken this class. donna is really funny which takes the edge off and makes the class seem to go much faster, and being a doula and a nurse, she explains everything w a lot of experience and knowledge to back it up. she's awesome and so is the class (even just the first half, like i said - we have another class to go!!)
babycare basics was great for us because even though i've had experience with babies, i have not been around them much at the newborn stage, and i have never given a tiny little baby a bath, or swaddled them. and DH hasn't ever even changed a diaper and knew hardly anything about baby care. this class is great if you don't have much experience w small babies, but it also teaches a lot of the new information about SIDS and keeping baby safe.
the infant CPR class was great, but we were only there for the first 15 minutes b/c i felt ill and had to leave. :( but they told us we can reschedule, i just haven't gotten to it yet. it seemed very helpful and we left saying we need to make the appointment to go back because we had already in the first quarter of the class learned a lot we didn't know before.
we also went to a couple's prenatal yoga session. it was awesome and made me feel really good and relaxed when i got home and i had great sleep that night. i feel that this class (or the regular prenatal yoga) would be great for anyone, beginner or not.
this post is a bit long, but i have just been so thrilled with this place and i wanted to share all of my experiences. the staff there is very warm and friendly. they are so excited for you, your spouse, and your baby. it's a wonderful environment and the services they provide are awesome.

Great to hear. That's something I might have to look into, definitely for me, and almost definitely for DH since he's terrified of handling newborns. And they're so close to my home!
