veggies for dogs
do you guys feed your dogs veggies? I'm trying to help my dog trim a few lbs by feeding him veggies for treats. so far he loves carrots and green beans. i just gave him some asparagus and he woofed it down. he also loves apples. i know that grapes, onions, garlic and citrus aren't good for him. i'm nervous to try bell peppers but we rarely eat it anyway.

With varied success, we've tried green beans, snow peas, snap peas, carrots, apples, and bananas. So far bananas are the favorite since they don't cause stomach upset, are easy to keep and feed.

Bananas, carrots, red apples and broccoli go over best with my dog!
Peppers and tomatoes not so much. And the time she tried to eat a piece of lime was hilarious - the face she made when she got the sour taste was classic.
Amber actually jumps up with excitement when she hears the words banana or carrot!

Re: veggies for dogs
Since Deisel has major allergy issues I give him veggies to gnaw on. He likes raw sweet potatoes, brocolli and carrots.
I like the raw veggies over the soft fruits b./c it keeps him busy for a little while

Re: veggies for dogs
our dogs LOVE their raw fruits and veggies... a few years ago i had issues in my garden because my bell peppers kept disappearing.. my golden retriever would actually pick them off the plants and snack on them... when i pick carrots every year i have to watch that no dogs steal them from the bucket...
basically they eat whatever veggie i am working with and i buy bags of baby carrots for them all the time...i have given them whole apples (initially by accident) and they actually eat them around the core, watermelon they eat off the rind....
