Vegas
Any hotel recommendations? Never been to Vegas and thinking about taking a trip there. Are the restaurants all expensive or reasonable?

Re: Vegas
My favorite hotel is Mandalay Bay. But there are so many nice hotels. DH and I think the restaurants there are comparable in price to restaurants in NYC. We love Vegas and are thinking about going there sometime this year. Have fun.

Re: Vegas
I like the MGM the best, of the "reasonable" priced hotels on the strip.

Re: Vegas
My favorite is the Mirage. The room was nice, and the location is ideal - right in the middle of the Strip.
I've also stayed at the Flamingo, the Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. The Flamingo is in a great location and often super cheap - so if you just need a place to crash for the night, it's fine. But the rooms are not so nice. In the Luxor I had a beautiful room - probably the nicest one I've had in all the hotels. Mandalay Bay was nice too. But those are on the end of the strip and you'll do more walking, which is something to consider if you're going in the summer!
Btw, the buffet brunch at Luxor is the best on the Strip, I think. On Sat./Sun. it's like $18 for unlimited champagne and mimosas plus a full breakfast and lunch. Good food too!

Re: Vegas
I've stayed at Bally's, Paris, Harrah's, Excalibur, Tropicana, and Luxor and would reccomend them in that order. I don't really think you can go wrong w/any hotel on the strip.

I second Mandalay Bay. Beautiful hotel and close to everything. It's big, but not as big as MGM (you can get lost in that place) and still newer than some of the other ones. JMO, but no matter where you stay you'll have an amazing time!

Re: Vegas
I would stay more towards the center of the strip. The Mirage is great and the prices are usually reasonable. The Venitian is gorgeous but can be pricey. Caesars Palace is really nice as well and I liked NY NY too. Restaurants range from 99cent shrimp cocktail to a $700 cheeseburger, so theres something in all price ranges!

We've stayed at the Venetian and New York, New York. Honestly, I liked NY better than the Venetian.
I would love to go back and stay at Mandalay Bay.

Re: Vegas
I've stayed at ...... Bellagio - lakeview suite (obviously awesome since the lake music is pumped into your room with your own view of the fountain) separated by a solid door is a LR with its own toilet & the BR has 2 bathrooms, one w/a tub, & one w/a steam shower.
Venetian - I liked that the LR area was sunken but the room was not that great.
Luxor - the room was nice enough but we stayed in the tower & felt like where we had to park the car was way too far.
Monte Carlo - the rooms are ok and usually cheap.
MGM - the main rooms are nice BUT I did stay in the west wing ONCE and I was not happy. They gear it towards adults because cots/cribs are not allowed or frowned upon. The problem is, the bathrooms are surrounded by a sort of frosted glass & I did not appreciate having to go in there & feel exposed.

Prepare to do a lot of walking! The strip is quite long. I have walked from one end to the other, but I probably wouldn't reccomend it, haha. There is a monorail with several stops along the strip, so a car is definitely not neccessary unless you plan on going off the strip a lot. Cabs are easy to get at any hotel if you choose to take one at night or whatever. Planet Hollywood is not quite the center of the strip, but pretty close. It's across from the Bellagio, and near Paris and Ballys. Harrah's, Caesars, and Mirage are right in the middle. Stratosphere is on the strip, but on the far end so I would not really reccomend staying there.

Re: Vegas
i've only stayed at the monte carlo and have no complaints! clean, reasonable pricing, centrally located! there are a lot of nice ones to chose from....we walked into most of them....i don't think you can go wrong w/the pp suggestions....the main reason i chose the MC was b/c of location/price

I stayed at Mirage and Paris and enjoyed both. Paris didn't have that great of a pool area.
I don't think you can wrong with any of the hotels on the strip.
