varicocele anyone?

Went to see a urologist with DH today and he suspects varicocele which apparently contributes to the low sperm count...anyone out there with a similar Dx for DH?

my dh had the same diagnosis from the urologist. His is very severe. We were told the only choices were iui (not with good luck), ivf with icsi or surgery. with my age (39) we chose ivf.

DH had bi lateral varicocles and a very low count. I say had because he had surgery done 1.5 years ago to repair it. Prior to the surgery we did IVF/ICSI and conceived DD on our first try. We haven't actively TTC for number 2 so I'm not sure if the surgery has helped. However our RE reccomended skippimg IUIs and going straight to IVF. He said the chances of us getting pregnant with IUIs and DHs count were very slim. Good Luck. FM me if you need more info or want to talk.

DH and I have been trying to conceive for almost 2 years with 3 IUIs, clomid and injectibles. His number are low, but not that low. Ranger 12 mil -20 mil. How were you Dhs numbers before teh surgery? What was teh surgery like? Recovery? Were there side effects? Why didnt you consider clomid for him first? Do you know his LH, FSH, Testostorone numbers? I've been obsessed with my own issues for so long and now I'm refocusing. Just feel like I need SOME good news to come our way in all of this. Thank you for sharing with me.

We had the same diagnosis and DH had the surgery to repair. 6 months after the surgery we still weren't pregnant so we decided to do IVF. Our son was born last April and I was pregnant with number 2 in December! It was quite a surprise but I guess if we gave the surgery the full year we would have seen the results.
