Valiums for IVF?
Anyone know what valiums are needed for during an IVF cycle? My pharmacy called up yesterday so I can go pick up the 10,000 medications that Dr B has prescribed for me and one of the drugs on the list is valiums????  Is that for when I start going nuts?  No really, I thought they'd give me anesthesia for the ER..... Anyone have any idea what these are for? I really don't want to pay for them if I don't need to ....

My guess would be to calm your nerves before going in. How many Mg are they prescribing?

I didn't ask the pharmacist  but I think that you are right All I really need is anesthesia for the ER, I'll be calm enough naturally knowing that I won't be awake when they pull my eggs out of my poor little ovaries

Valium is one of the meds ordered for me as well. I'm not 100% sure, but I *think* its for the transfer, I could be wrong though.

I'm a patient of Dr B's as well. Anesthesia was used for ER. And I had to take 1 Valium 1/2 hr before ET.

I dont see why anyone would need to take anything for the transfer. It is like a pap and over in 5 minutes tops.

It's not for pain (as I've had ET's done w.out valiums as well). It calms any nerves and relaxes your uterus. I have to say - I loved it!

So it's for the ET and not the ER? OK that makes more sense then

It's for the transfer. It will relax the uterus so it wont contract
