Vaginal Birth Recovery Tips!
Hi, ladies. I figured I'd post some info on here in hopes that people find it helpful. I had my daughter on 5/3 and am still healing from labor and delivery, but have used a few things religiously which I highly recommend. If you can go and get them before you give birth, you'll have what you need at home when you come back from the hospital!
1) Walgreen's Overnight Extra Heavy Flow Maxi Pads w/ Flex-Wings -- I found these as a result of trial and error and I have to say I like them better than any of the name brands. They are significantly cheaper, but are super comfy -- they have a ton of padding and are super long -- when you open the individual pad from its package, its folded four times! When I first got home from the hospital, I was making these pad contraptions that the nurses in the hospital taught me how to make using chuck pads and maxi pads, but it was time consuming and time is something you don't have when you just went to the bathroom, are bleeding, and need to get back to your baby ASAP. I change mine every time I go to the bathroom, even if there is only a small amount of blood, so stock up! They come 20 to a package -- you'll go through them quickly, especially in the first few days you get home from the hospital when you're bleeding heavy.
2) Earth Mama Angel Baby New Mama Bottom Spray -- I've seen this sold at Target and Buy Buy Baby. It's a cooling mist spray for after-birth. I use it every time I go to the bathroom. You can spray both your vagina and bum with it. It has witch hazel and a bunch of other natural ingredients to help healing. It does not burn at all and feels really good.
3) Tucks Wipes -- So no one mentioned to me the possibility of hemorrhoids, but there is a very good chance you're going to get some as a result of "bearing down" while pushing during labor. The nurses at the hospital sent me home with 3 containers of these, but in the case yours doesn't, I'd have a container at home. It helps reduce the swelling of the hemorrhoids and has a cooling/soothing effect which feels great. I try to use these 3-4 times a day.
I hope some of you find this info helpful! Good luck on your upcoming deliveries!

Vaginal Birth Recovery Tips!
I used dermoplast spray. It's what they gave me in the hospital and it was amazing.
Also used a squirt bottle with warm water to rinse and not wipe. Then the spray. Also a sitz bath with warm water helped a lot.

Re: Vaginal Birth Recovery Tips!
Wanted to add for any ladies who get an episiotomy- dab the area with peroxide, it helps it to heal. Mine did not heal correctly at first (I was in pain for weeks after giving birth) and once I used the peroxide it healed.

Re: Vaginal Birth Recovery Tips!
Best advice I ever got was from my chiropractor believe it or not- she told me this helped her during her recovery from birth...
A lukewarm sitz bath with celtic sea salt. At first, I thought the salt would burn but it didn't. It was so soothing and really helped with the healing process. I also used coconut oil.

Re: Vaginal Birth Recovery Tips!
In addition to everything listed above, while I was in the hospital I would wrap up ice cubes & put it in my underwear, aaahhhh so soothing & I really think it helped decrease the inflammation down there to heal quicker.

Vaginal Birth Recovery Tips!
That spray bottle was AMAZING!!! Felt clean but wasn't worried about hurting the area.
Tucks pads ON the maxi pad.
I will try the peroxide tip. My episiotomy hurt for MONTHS after.
