Vacation home
Anyone have a vacation home (or their family has one) that they can recommend a nice area? We are looking for a small vacation place but can't pinpoint an area. We'd prefer to be a short drive away (about 3-4 hour drive or so from Long Island) so we can get out there often throughout the year especially on long weekends. We were thinking about a condo in FL but right now we wouldn't be able to get much use out it throughout the year (we'd probably only be able to get out there once a year). We'll have to put that on hold for now. We're looking to spend less than $200k for a small 2 or 3 bedroom. We'd like to have a lot of property and hopefully be near a beach or water of some sort (short drive ok). Looking for a nice area that is a short drive away from a cute town with night life - restaurants, bars, shops, different things to do. We'd like to be able to get use out of it throughout the year, not just Summer.
Any ideas?

I was going to suggest the same. Check out the Lake Ariel/Lake Walenpaupax area of PA.

My aunt has a house in the Wild Acres community of Dingman's Ferry in PA. There are houses right on the lake, 2 pools, clubhouse, and other amenities within the area.

We have a vacation home in the Poconos. There are a lot of private gated communities that have clubhouses, pools, lakes, etc. and lots to do.
