Re: UTI first trimester
I don't remember what my dr prescribed me for my UTI, but I do remember reading that if left untreated it can travel to your kidneys. If that happens it is very painful and you can harm the baby. As far as I know there are medications that are proven to be safe during pregnancy. I would check its classification to be sure.

UTI first trimester
I would not leave a UTI untreated even if I wasn't preggo. I think UTIs are fairly common, though. You could ask if you can take cranberry pills.

UTI first trimester
I had a UTI my first trimester with DS and the same -- no symptoms at all. Took the meds as prescribed and had no issues.

Re: UTI first trimester
don't worry about medications especially for treating UTIs you do not want them during pregnancy. Doctors wouldn't give you anything that can possibly harm the baby. Just take the meds and drink plenty of liquids. Good luck

UTI first trimester
Try not to worry too much. Like you I never had any symptoms and when I went to the hospital for dehydration they told me I had a UTI. I also had back pain and turns out it spread to my kidneys which is a HUGE NO NO when pregnant. A kidney infection can lead to a miscarriage. I don't remember the antibiotics that they gave me but I was in the hospital for 4 days on IV antibiotics and then finished them for 7 days when I got home.
I'm currently on antibiotics again for a upper resp infection. I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and this baby couldn't be healthier and more perfect.

Re: UTI first trimester
I had a UTI for my entire 1st and 2nd trimesters and was on antibiotics for 4 rounds. I hated doing it because I didn't have any symptoms either. But, an untreated UTI could be far worse than the meds because it could travel to your kidneys, other organs, or even cause pre term labor down the line.
