Using Facebook to call people out?
Appropriate or not?
One of my friends made a post asking where or not it's common to send a gift if you cannot attend an event. I feel like she's calling people out and find it a bit rude, tbh. I know it's not addressed to me as we were not invited, but it still rubs me the wrong way
Thoughts?

Re: Using Facebook to call people out?
Is she asking because she is in this situation as an invitee? If so I guess it's not a problem though looking at an etiquette site is a better idea IMO.
If she hosted the event and is now calling people out because she expected gifts from them, it's tacky. Also, unless it's a wedding I don't think gifts are expected from people who cannot come.

She said it was for her child's event... For all I know the people she is talking about aren't even on fb. But I find it a bit weird that's she looking for gifts.

I agree. I can't stand passive-aggressive Facebook posts. If you're angry about something someone did, confront them or don't.

Then it's tacky. I don't think someone who does not attend a kid's party is obligated to send a gift and it's something I only do myself if the child is a very good friend of DD's or the parent is a very good friend of mine.
To be honest, people have rsvp'd no to DD's parties and offer to send a gift to which I always say thanks but no thanks- she has enough stuff!

There's so many things people post on FB that are tacky or rude. To each their own though.

Someone called her on it. Claimed it was for her own info. But she took the post down

This adds to the reasons why I have deactivated my account. I can't waste anymore time on social media. It's been the most carefree 4 days in 6 years!! I can't stand passive aggressive posts and I know a few people who would do this.

Re: Using Facebook to call people out?
I don't mind when people use Facebook to tell something that happened to them but when it's passive-aggressive I have to roll my eyes. Facebook is becoming one big catfight. Sorry, I know some people hate the word catfight but it fits so well.

Re: Using Facebook to call people out?
I did it once, when some creeper from high school messaged me privately to ask me how big my "boobies" were after my double mastectomy.
I messaged him something back, a fairly classy response (followed by calling him a fckface because why not), screenshot it, posted it and tagged him in it. It blew up.
It was fantastic. A bunch of women from here that know me had my back too.
He was dumb enough to message something perverted and cruel in writing with his name attached. Tough shit!
Passive status updates about gifts for a party though - eh, no.

No one over the age of 15 should be using FB to 'call people out' .......... all of this stuff has been around LONG enough for us to have a learned a lesson or two about what you should and should not put out there on the internet.

Re: Using Facebook to call people out?
I *personally* don't feel FB is the appropriate place to call people out, rant about politics, push any agenda one might have, etc. etc. I feel like like FB is suppose to be a fun and "light" atmosphere..................share a few pics, share some happy moments, share a joke, wish everyone well, etc. I don't feel know why anyone feels the need to share their problems, get involved in fights, or cause drama on a social media site. JMO.

I'm not into calling people out on FB, think it's juvenile, but I remember when you posted about what happened to you, and in a case like that, I totally would have called that fcface out! That is completely deserved!

Using Facebook to call people out?
Interesting new word. I knew about incubus, not succubus.
And, YES, that jerk face deserved everything he got! And, more! I can't even imagine someone doing anything like that.

Re: Using Facebook to call people out?
That is definitely immature and annoying. However, I also dont get all worked up about facebook. I only post pics of my kids or interesting articles, dont fight with my husband or loved ones on FB and enjoy it for what it is.
