Using a sling with a newborn?

Anyone use a sling with their newborn? I LOVE the Sakura Bloom slings, but they are pretty pricey so I'd love to hear thoughts (positive or negative) from anyone who is using or has used a sling early on.

For a little context, DS is due in early February, and when he's only 2 weeks old, I'll have to schlep him along on the walk to DD's preschool. It's only a 10 minute walk from my apartment, but I know Feb can be really cold and snowy so I'm trying to figure out the best way to carry him so that he's warm, snuggly and protected.

I have the UB Vista and can put DS in the bassinet while DD rides the piggyboard, but a sling just feels snugglier to me.

I did! I used my ring sling a ton when DD was a newborn. I also used my ERGO a lot. I personally didn't like the infant insert (newborns are too small use without support), so I used a rolled up receiving blanket under her bum. PM me if you have questions if you want. There are some good babywearing groups on facebook with a TON of information. I would also be willing to sell my ring sling (haven't used it in a long time) if you're interested. It's not Sukura Bloom, but it's a good starter b/c it's inexpensive and ring slings take a little getting used to. You'll either love them or hate them.
