Uploading pics from phone to Shutterfly app

Uploading pics from phone to Shutterfly app
Does anyone do this?
I notice whenever I upload the pictures from my Android phone to the Shutterfly app and then go into Shutterfly to view or share them with others, they are a funny size- long and skinny, like the shape of my phone almost.
If I then try to save them to my computer, the picture opens with a white border on either side.
Something is off with the sizing.
Here is how it comes out:
What am I doing wrong when taking pictures on my phone?

I don't have an answer to your questions but just wanted to say thanks for sharing that pic - I love giraffes! What a great picture!

LOL- thanks! Hence why I want it to be a normal size.
This was at the Cape May Zoo- they have some great animals there.... and it's FREE!

I believe its because its not a download to your computer right? Are you right clicking to save it?
Because then its not the actual photo/full resolution.

I think it's actually something to do with the setting on my camera on the phone- like it's the wrong ratio maybe?
I am just so bad with anything photography related though

I use the shutterfly app also and this has never happened to me. Probably something with picture size on your phone? Not sure really
