UPdates- saw my dr...

so at 9:40 they call me back and tell me they can squeeze DH and I in at 11:30. We rush there only to wait about 50 minutes before being seen.
It was so funny though b/c there was the most adorable little girl in the office w/ her mom and they were the reason we were being held up so long. My DH turned to me and said "geez, she already has 1- what is she doing here?" so much as to say you have one so get out of our way! It was really cute.
then my dr went on to tell us about all of the risks w/ taking the injections and now i'm really freaked out. he said there's a good shot that DH and I won't be able to just do the shots and try naturally b/c my ovaries might get really large and i might either be uncomfortable and in pain or if we do that my DH could injure my ovaries... pretty scary stuff everything that he went into.
He thinks we should do IVF which as you know my DH is against. I left the office feeling completely deflated and hopeless, hysterical the entire way back. We stopped at stony brook hospital to pick up a condom so that DH can get a SA done and not be going against his beliefs (though he seems to not be agreeing w/ just getting the SA done too but hopefully I Can work my way around that one).
I just want to go back to bed and wish this day would be over already. I take care of my grandma during the day and it's very difficult to be normal around her on days like this.

Wow, I'm not sure I agree with your doctor at all. Does he know that your DH's beliefs prevent you guys from doing IVF?

I mean of course there are risks with every fertility treatment, including Clomid. My doctor went over the risks of injectibles like OHSS, ovarian torsion, etc. But he should not be assuming that your ovaries are going to get huge and you won't be able to BD!!! That's why they start you low and monitor you so closely to prevent that. My RE knew the whole time those first two cycles that we were planning to do it naturally (we changed our minds at the last second) and never said a word about us not being able to do that.

My doctor also recommended IVF but that was after one cycle of injectibles when he saw how well I responded, that our chances would increase a lot by doing IVF. But there was never a question of doing anything other than trying injectibles with intercourse after Clomid didn't work. I would be so discouraged if I heard what you heard. And hasn't he been saying that injectibles are the next step? I just don't understand why he would want to discourage you from trying it, was he saying you should do IUI?

First, maybe you should get your records and see a different RE?

Second, I can tell you firsthand that when I did injectables - I hyperstimmed EVERY time. Even if they told me I could have sex, I wouldn't have been able. It's uncomfortable just to walk.
That's why IUI and IVF are done. No matter how low the doses or what they have given me to slow response, I end up hyperstimming. I'm not saying it's definitely going to happen, but your RE is trying to give you the whole picture.

It's good your DH is going for a SA...but I'm not sure what your next steps may be.

Thanks ladies, sorry I'm just getting back to you now. I went non stop yesterday and literally just crashed when I got home. I kicked DH out of the room and cried myself to sleep (he had work to do on the comp and I just needed some alone time). I woke up feeling just as lousy which isn't like me, normally I have the "it's a new day" outlook.
I don't know ANYTHING about IVF. I NEVER thought I'd hear the words when it came to DH and I which I KNOW is ridiculous, but I just didn't. What's the difference in procedure b/t just injections and that?
I'll update this in a little while to add to it- i have to go and give my grandma her medicine.

Ok, I guess I didn't understand it all from your original post, it sounded like he was telling you it would be practically impossible to do just injections and that you were really upset about what he was telling you. It looks like you and your DH have some tough decisions to make now, good luck.
