*UPDATED* HELP! Stomach virus or reaction to formula?

Well, it turns out that DD might have a milk allergy.  After her 6 month well visit yesterday, my ped suggested trying to put her back on regular formula (we had been on soy formula since she was sick the first time)
I gave her a 4 ounce bottle this morning and within 2 hours she was throwing up all over the place. She was pretty much throwing up every 10-15 minutes for a few hours... poor baby!
So, it's looking like it was not a virus, most likely a milk allergy. Sticking with soy formula and will call the ped on Monday.

Ugh, my poor baby girl. I don't know if she is having a reaction to formula or a stomach virus. DD is 5.5 months old and until today has been EBF. I have been feeling like my supply is dropping, so I was starting to use formula for a couple of feedings starting today. Here's what happened:
Nursed her at 6:00 this morning when she woke up.
Gave her an 8 ounce bottle at 9:30 which was 6 ounces formula and 2 ounces BM.
Went to the mall with the family and nursed her at 12:30 at the mall.
As we were going to leave, she started throwing up around 3:00. Over 6 hours after she had the bottle with formula. She spit up in her stroller, then threw up all over my shoulder and the bathroom floor as I went to change her. THen she threw up 2 more times as DH held her.
Got home and gave her another bottle at 4:30. Again, 6 ounces formula and 2 ounces BM. About 2 hours later around 6:30 she started throwing up again, maybe 4 times, until she had nothing left in her stomach.
Her demeanor is the same happy, smiling self as always. She has no fever. She has not cried ONCE all day. Nothing, no fussing, nothing. The only thing that is different is that she is a bit lethargic. After she finishes throwing up, she puts her head on our shoulder which she NEVER does. She is sleeping in the PNP right now.
I'm so confused. We don't know if this is a stomach virus or a reaction to formula. If it's formula, I will feel terrible for giving her something that has made her sick.
I called urgent care and the nurse told me to stop the formula for now. She said to be on the watch for signs of dehydration.
So, if you had to make a guess based on this information, which way would you lean towards? Stomach virus or reaction to formula?

Hard to tell. She has apparently had 2 big poopy diapers today (just so happened that DH changed them both) and all I heard from the other room was "WHOA.... OH MAN!!" .....
But then again, that's really no different reaction from DH than normal when he deals with poopy diapers!

I would guess that it's a reaction to the formula (I'm sorry...but it's better than her being sick for real). She is otherwise happy and content. It seems a true stomach virus would leave her feeling icky or out of sorts in other ways too. Since most of her symptoms are vomitting, and spitting up, it seems to have something to do with her body rejecting or not being able to metabolize the new substance (even 2 oz is alot when it's the first time). Formula and BM are radically different from each other...in terms of the sugar compounds, the proteins and the artificial additives. Any idea why your milk supply is dwindling? Did you start solids yet? If you really need to supplement with formula, maybe start with a smaller dose (like 1/2 oz) and then work your way up until her GI system is used to it and can effectively break it down. Good luck. I hope she feels better soon.

Ugh, well, when I transitioned DS to formula, I remember we just gave him a bottle of formula without even mixing it with BM. And he took to it just fine. Guess it may be true that all kids are different.
As for my BM, I am back at work, she is taking 3 7 ounce bottles a day (21 ounces) and I am pumping MAYBE 12 ounces a day if I am lucky. So if it weren't for my freezer stash, she would have been on formula a LONG time ago. I only have 2 bags left in my freezer and thought I would start the formula on the weekend while I am home. I could probably still EBF on weekends, but I still need to start formula for the week. I have no choice.
She fell asleep and just threw up again in her PNP about 15 minutes ago. So this is now almost 5 hours after her bottle with formula. Poor thing was dry heaving because she doesn't have anything in her stomach.

me too...my dd had it and all she did was have horrible gas and gross poops....(she's three so its a little different and she could tell us!) but she was still fine, and then would have her "moments" of uncomfy-ness and be back to normal! hoping she's better soon!

Well, we survived the night. DD did not sleep well, but she didn't throw up anymore. I'm more confused than ever because I have been BFing her ever since and the only way to know for sure is to give her formula again. Either way, she will need to use formula on Tuesday when I go back to work as I don't have enough pumped milk.
Part of me hopes it was a stomach virus and it was just pure coincidence that I started her on formula the same day. Ugh!

i think that if she was reacting to the formula you def would of had some other reaction such as rash, may tummy ache since it was already digested and such... but if it was the formula then you should see a huge difference in the next feeding..she shouldnt throw up anymore.
