updated!!! got the ring
Thank you everyone so much !!!!! we went to the diamond district last night and I did exactly what everyone said to do and he got a beautiful 1.2 cusion cut color F and he is very happy and stayed within budget. I was such a negotiater you would have been so proud. I walked in with the 4 grand said what I wanted ..he put all the diamonds in front of me tried to screw with me and I walked out and went to the next guy on my way out of the 4th store the guy from the first store found me and said he would sell it to me at my price!!!!!!!!! so pretty much you guys made me a rockstar, i owe you guys big time!

Congrats to your friends! My DH also got my rings in the diamond district. They really do give you more bang for your buck if you know how to haggle.

Wow - way to bargain!!!
Cushion is a BEAUTIFUL ring - a classic cut - it was my second favorite - one day I'm going to get an anniversary ring or necklace of cushions - I think the cuts and facets in that shape are gorgeous - way to go! The DD is like sensory overload 
Can we get a pic??
