Updated-- Painting Crisis-- Please help!

So-- this morning I posted a painting question and moments after, DH and I started painting. We JUST finished-- we took one break to head to the mall to pick up our new medicine cabinet, and we needed to take a dinner break- then wait for the coats to dry.. I am POOPED.

We did our kitchen and one bathroom- what a PITA!!!!! We used Behr Kitchen and Bath finish-- we hated it. I do not recommend this paint to anyone. It was very thick and after the first coat we were really afraid that it would not look ok- it turned out ok-- but, it was not fun to work with. I don't get how Behr gets all these high consumer ratings- I find it difficult to work with- being an amateur painter..

Anyway- just wanted to pass that along. Boo Behr...

CRISIS/UPDATE AT MY NEXT POST..

Re: Literally.. just finished painting

You should of just used a BEHR Eggshell paint. That is what I plan to use tomorrow when I paint our kitchen. We got Behr Green tea

Re: Literally.. just finished painting

I painted my whole house....Faux Finishings included with Behr Paint. I used a Satin Finish for most of the house...and Flat for my bathrooms and basement.

I had a crew made up of me, DH, my sister, my mother, MIL, 2 aunts and 2 uncles....(we were in a hurry because the baby was coming home from the hospital a week after we closed on the house)

Everyone had a different level of painting skills...and my house came out beautifully.

Is it possible the paint was Old?
Old paint does have a tendency to thicken.

Re: Literally.. just finished painting

We bought the paint last weekend-- so, I can't imagine it was old... Unless Home Depot had it laying around..

I am SOO upset now-- I just checked on it. I was happy cause it looked good- then I peeled off a little tape- and it started pulling the paint off like it was a literal coat of latex-- I have no idea what to do-- this paint f*cking blows! I don't know what possessed us to get the kitchen and bath-- but who knew it was going to be the bane of my existence.

I have no clue what to do-- I just woke DH and he just rolled over and went back to bedChat Icon

i really think that they either screwed up mixing it for you....or its been laying around in the store for a long time. You should go there with whatever paint you have left...explain what happened and hopefully they should give you a refund or at least partial refund.

it really is usually good paint...we used it in my house, my cousin's, my sisters and my parents...and we never had an issue....thats why i think something was wrong with the paint home depot sold you.

Honestly-- I could care less about the 25 bucks we paid for the paint-- I care more that it was a pain, we spent a lot of time painting the room and I just want it to look good. I just want it fixed.

Re: Updated-- Painting Crisis-- Please help!

Ok-- I think I may have just solved the problem-- I took a razer blade and slid it along the edges where I had painters tape-- to ensure that it would not peel off any paint-- so crisis averted. I still do have two areas where I need to touch up though-- which are kinda bad-- but at least that can be fixed and I can probably have a normal looking bathroom.

I swear-- I told DH last night- we are never doing anything ourselves anymore- it's so not worth the aggravation.

Someone once told me you have to peel off the tape while the paint is still wet, or else it will take the paint with it!

This happened to us when we painted...thank goodness it was just by the windows before any molding was up...

Oh No! I'm sorry you are having a problem!

I used Behr ONCE in ONE room - and NEVER AGAIN - for me it's Ben Moore all the way.

(We are actually painting as I type - we decided to re-do our bedroom) Ok well - DH is painting I am watching the baby and typing :)

So sorry you are having all these problems. IMO, Behr *****.... Ben Moore is so much better, and even more so, I love the Lowe's brand American Tradition paint. That was the easiest to use ever!

Re: Updated-- Painting Crisis-- Please help!

I bought BM for the apartment and I bought Behr for the house and the only difference I found is BEHR is cheaper - both excellent paints
