UPDATE with a question..OK night 1 in a toddler bed...
I know I know..she turned 3 in June..its about time. She sleeps 12 hours a night with a 7:30 bedtime...I pray doing the switch from crib to toddler bed doesnt screw it up! wish me luck!!!

well, I just went in there - shes fast asleep. she never got out of bed like I thought she might. lets hope the rest of the night is smooth sailing!

Dawn, we did the change over this week too (b/c she was in DS's room in his crib) & he outgrew his bassinet.
We tried 3 wks ago & it was torture, but 2 nights ago we tried & she slept right through the night & actually called me in to her in the am. I don't think she realizes she can get up on her own (thankfully).
Last night she called out at 2am; I went in & she was almost sideways on the bed but I resituated her & she went back to sleep till 7.
I hope it goes just as well for you. Fingers crossed.

Huge move! Sounds like she did great. Even if she does the getting out of bed thing, the novelty will wear off. They look so big as soon as they are in a bed.

well....I guess OK. she did fall out at 3 am.. and then was kind of up on and off til 5 calling me in ....but then she slept til 8:30, which she is normally up by 7 or 7:30. so I guess it balanced out. She never got out of bed to play or anything which was my worry, and she even called me in to "get her" in the morning..
question though..do you think her falling out is a sign that shes not ready? She naps in a regular bed at my sisters and never falls out. Maybe its just a transition? The daybed doesnt come with a rail. Thanksfully her room is carpetted and it wasnt a far fall.

This post makes me feel better.
Bryan is 2.5 and still in a crib
Carolynn still fits in the bassinet (and will for a while) shes in our room.
So, when we do trasition Bry hes going into not only a bed, but, a new room.
We're taking our time with it.
Hope to have it accomplished before the holidays.
Once he's transitioned, we'll transition Carolynn into the nursery.
ETA: Sounds like your DD did good. Im sure it will get better and better every night. I agree about the bedrails. I am definitley going to invest in those.

You should be able to get the generic toddler rail sold at BRU if you just made the crib into a daybed.

If it was up to me DS would of still been in a crib but when I get preggo with DD we took him out.
She should have no problem. DS took to the bed (back in Dec) no problem.

Ours is the same thing....and the rail we bought at Target worked fine..It goes underneath the mattress....I think it even says for beds only but it workes perfect for us.
I know a LOT of people who use the ones they sell in the store on their convertible crib day beds. I w ould look into it and FM me if you want the info on which one we have.
Overall, I think your getting there, good to hear it was an success
