Update at 3:20 Wednesday- Back from the dr...
Once again the nurse could not get a look at my left ovary She looked for literally a minute and then said 'oh- that must be it- yeah, just a bunch of small..' and took the wand out. She just wrote in my chart 'hard to get a clear view- 9's, 8's and smaller'. There were 9's on my left 2 days ago - I would think they'd be bigger by now... when we left my DH was really annoyed and said he doesn't understand why she always seems so rushed. There was absolutely no one in the waiting room when we walked in- so what was she rushing for... I called my nurse and told her next time I have to go for monitoring I'm going to go to a diff. office to see if they can get a better view of my ovary b/c this isn't the first time this happened and I guess she's the only one that does sonos in the office when the dr isn't there. I told her I'm sure it doesn't even make a difference but for my own peace of mind I'll travel a little further... and she was fine with that. On my right I had an 11, 2-9.5s, a 9, and an 8, then a bunch of smaller- from what she could see. They think I'm going to be stimming for a while longer yet... they ordered me 20 more vials of meds, and I still have 9 left. Ugh... and to think my calendar had my retrieval being this morning if I had started on time and everything had gone as planned (though I know that's not usually the case). Oh well, I'll keep chugging along.... lol.
Update: 3:20 Got my instructions- they're increasing my dose from 4 amps of menopur to 6 amps for the next 2 nights! Does that mean 2 IM shots? It says you can only use the Q-cap for 5 amps--- I'm going to call them to double check now. Also I start my Ganirelix tonight and continue my dexamethasone and we'll see what Friday morning brings!! On a side note, anyone going for monitoring on Friday am in Melville? I could meet some other IFers
Just checked w/ the nurse- I can do up to 6amps in 1 syringe they said so I don't have to get 2!!! Yeah!!! Also, confirmed that the ganirelix goes in my stomach- which I guess I would've figured out had I actually opened one and looked at the needle- it's so tiny. I promised myself not to look at things until the time came so I didn't freak myself out- lol. So far it's working!

I agree. I really like her as a person- she's SO nice. She even hugged me this morning DH thought it was b/c she felt bad that she couldn't see my ovary I told my nurse that I thought we were heading west one of these days to do a few things, so I wanted to monitor at the other office for my next visit, so we didn't have to head up North off the LIE... I didn't want to make it like I thought this woman didn't know what she was doing- lol. I did mention to my nurse that a lot of ppl have a hard time seeing my left ovary- though they usually end up finding it... and she seemed fine w/ that so I guess it's no big deal. I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Re: Wednesday- Back from the dr...
You will be amazed that all of the sudden they grow huge overnight. Last cycle i had a 14 and the rest were smaller, then the next day the 14 was 18. when they had been growing like 1cm a day. I bet you have about 4 -5 more days of stimming, if that. How many days have you stimmed so far? when are you back?

Thanks sweetie Tonight will be my 9th night of stimming... and I haven't checked the voicemail yet to find out when I have to go back- they usually don't leave messages until later on in the afternoon. She was telling me how quickly they can grow... grow follies grow!!!

Re: Wednesday- Back from the dr...
Some folks are slow responders, so don't worry too much about it. My first IVF cycle, I stimmed for 12 days.
ETA: However, once the follies catch on, they grow very quickly.

Thanks guys I am just taking it day by day... at this point that's all I can do, right? I wish I was feeling more alert- I'm so tired all the time... all I want to do is sleep. We'll see what the voicemail says...

Funny, they always have trouble finding my left ovary as well
I have to press down on that side and the wand always feels like its going to pierce through me

I know that feeling all too well I say 'push the wand far DOWN' and they put the wand up? Then I say 'no - the other way' AND I push and they still can't find it It's quite comical- but you may have to be there... DH gets a good laugh- until he sees the 'OMG I'm going to die' look from me...

Re: Update at 3:20 Wednesday- Back from the dr...
Just so you know...they are probably controlling your stims so that you don't end up with OHSS. My first cycle I stimmed for 12 days and ended up with severe OHSS...to the point that I was hospitalized. Second cycle they did what they are doing to you...long, slow stim cycle and I had no OHSS. Trust Dr. K, he knows his sh!t.......

I know- you're totally right, and I definitely trust Dr. K. I'm just tired of the shots making me tired- lol... but it all comes w/ the territory. I would much rather stim for longer rather than for less time and risk OHSS. Did they ever up you to 6amps of menopur? I started on 3, then they raised it to 4 for the last 2 nights, and now they want me on 6 tonight and tomorrow night- along w/ the Ganirelix. I just keep comparing it unit wise to gonal f (which I'm sure I shouldn't)- and that's 450 units of menopur a night When I got my OHSS it was on no more than 225 units of gonal-f a night- though I'm sure that's like comparing apples to oranges.

It is like comparing apples to oranges. I honestly don't remember my protocol exactly - it was almost a year ago. I do know that I was doing Menopur injections...I think it was two vials morning and night and low dose Ovidrel and Ganirelex at night to supress...

Re: Update at 3:20 Wednesday- Back from the dr...
That's what I figured- lol... I'll just have to wait and see what Friday's sono and bloodwork bring... I started on the ganirelix tonight... and am down to my last 3 dexamethasone so I have to talk to the nurse tomorrow to see if they think I'll need more of any of my meds, b/c I don't know if schraft's will deliver on the weekend.

I got my dex from CVS so just ask them for a script when you go in. Its so much easier.

They always had trouble finding my left ovary too. I think it is quite common with the left ovary. Everytime I went for a sono, I would press down on the left side and they would always find it.
