*UPDATE* anyone preggers with gallstones?

hello there.. first off congrats to everyone who is expecting !
i was wondering is anyone here has or know someone that is pregnant and have gallstones? i recently miscarried 2 weeks ago and needed to have a D&C. Ever since the D&C, i have been experiencing tendernes under my right ribcage and my OB/GYN suspects that it may be gallstones. I am going for an ultrasound to find out tomorrow. my prob. is that i was cleared to start trying again after 1 cycle and i dont want to miss the boat on TTC b/c of gallstones. as of right now, i am not sure if i'll need surgery. but if it's not serious, i would like to TTC and worry about the gallstones later..if I can.

i just got back from my appt. and the sono tech said everything looked clear. No stones she even check all of my other organs just to be sure. but this still doesnt explain the soreness under my rib cage. i think i will push for my tests to rule out any infections...soooo i will update again. but i wanted to thank you all for responding and sharing your experiences and advice with me. i truly appreciate it!

I've had gallstones and had my gallbladder removed. My advice if you have them would be to get the surgery before ttc. It can get very painful and to deal with that on top of being pg would stink. Alot of women deal w it while pg but if I knew in advance of getting pg I'd fix it! Feel better!

I had a ton of gall bladder problems when I was preggo. I CERTAINLY would say to have your gall bladder taken care of before getting pg. Having attacks while pregnant was horrible, because they would not take it out until after I had DS. I wound up having it out when DS was 5 weeks old and I missed a whole week of his little life .

My recovery was a little different because I had the gall bladder surgery on TOP of being only 5 weeks pp. All in all, it still went well though.

GET IT OUT! SOrry but this is my 2nd pg with gallstones and i'm in helll. WIth my 1st I was diagnoised in my 3rd tria nd after I had her the symptons went away and they would not operate. Now i'm almost 32wks and dealing with a gallstone FULL of stones. Right now we're waiting to deliver or for it to become an oclussion. I am IN HELLL. I throw up all the time, have preterm labor, and am on bedrest. I have been in and out of L&D 6 times in the past 2wks. If I could go back I would. Have I mentioned i'm in HELLL. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get it removed. I know you want to start again, but this is so not a joke. This can cause some serious complications to you and for baby if it gets to bad. Just a little FYI Michelle Duggar, 19 kids and counting mom, delivered her daughter at 24wks due to complications from gallstones creating hypertension.

When I was pregs I had gallstones but I didn't know it. I had the WORST attack at 5 months preggo and thought I was in labor...thats how bad it was. Honestly I can't imagine labor being more painful than that. I didn't get my gallbladder removed until 2 years later and feel SOOOO much better. Those attacks are no joke so if you can get your gallbladder removed ASAP. Pregnancy aggravates it.

thanks for your response... i know for sure that i would dont want anything to harm my future pregnancies as i would not be able to forgive myself. so i will figure out my options after my ultrasound tomorrow. also, im sorry that you had such a rough time with your pregnancy

Definitely get it out. DH and I were TTC when I had to have an emergency gallbladder removal. It was so painful and I can't imagine having it while being pregnant.

Just a heads up -- might be different for you, but I had to do a pre-op radiation test and because I was exposed to radiation, my surgeon said I shouldn't TTCing for 1 cycle following my surgery. So essentially I missed two months of TTC, but we got pregnant the first month back.

It's a relativly quick and easy surgery that takes like an hour and leaves 2-3 small scars. The bloating from the air they put in the belly was worse then the incisions. You should be ready to start TTC in the next 1-2 cycles and honestly whenever you feel up to sex. I would NOT wait even if there aren't a lot of stones. PUSH to have it out if you have any! Pregnancy can induce gallstones and had I known then what I know now I would have really pushed to have had mine out. Like a pp said the attacks are insaine!! I just had one on Friday and I remember saying to my husband you have to call an ambulance I think i'm dying. I have NEVER felt pain like that before. Take your breath away, chest and belly will explode, can't breath or stop throwing up want to die sorta pain. I labored on Pit for 13hrs before my epi and I swear to GOD I would rather do that 100 times then have another attack. It was inhumane the way I felt.

And yes, 6 visits will suckk asss with the bill, but man I was either dying or going to deliver him with the stress to my body. This has not been an easy raod for us so far
