UPDATE and Question
Hey girls, Just got a letter in the mail from my dr. My hormone test came back normal? So, now I'm wondering how can I have PCOS and have normal hormone levels? I saw the ultrasound that I had done and you can clearly see the "string of pearls".. that's what he called it. I just a left a message for the nurse at my dr's office, to see how I could have PCOS and normal hormone levels.. Have any of you ever heard of this? Any responses would be appreciated!!

Re: UPDATE and Question
I haven't gotten my most recent bloodwork back yet, but I had initial bloodwork (with another doctor) done about a month ago and my levels were completely normal, plus I O on my own. My sonogram on Monday showed the "string of peals" too. According to my doctor, every woman with PCOS has a different set of symptoms. No two PCO'er is the same. I'm sure I'll find out more after I get my bloodwork back, but I guess the diagnosis is possible even with normal hormone levels.

Re: UPDATE and Question
Thank you for writing! I talked to the nurse and that's exactly what she said. That some women have all the symtoms including the abnormal hormone levels and some just have the "string of pearls". I have chronic pelvic pain, "string of pearls", weight gain, missed/irregular periods. All that fun stuff! I'm on Metformin currently. Friday I up my dosage to 2 pills everyday and the 3rd week, I'll be taking 3 pills (1500mg's) everyday. Hopefully I'll ovulate! and have a BFP real soon! I'm waiting on my period to call and schedule the HSG. Should be getting in on June 30th. Let's see if it's on time this month. Anyways, thank you for writing! Let me know how your bloodwork turns out!

Re: UPDATE and Question
I had the string of pearls also, but my hormones are all out of whack... I don't have a lot of the other things though, like obesity, etc. Everyone is different... I think PCOS doesn't really have a definitive diagnosis or consistent symptoms. I am on met too, to all of us!

Re: UPDATE and Question
I have PCOS also and my bloodwork is always perfect. There are many different causes of PCOS...some unidentifiable.
