Unsolicited advice

Anyone getting any????????

I know people mean well. I know that this is my first, and really I am unsure of a lot of stuff and should be happy for the advice, but

it just makes me bristle instead...

I think its because its about my registry and recommendations of what I really needed as opposed to what I didn't.

Then I was asked if if I tested out the stroller prior to registering for it and whether or not I could pick it up. Of course I did...what am I ? An idiot????

I actually stopped talking to one of my co-workers because all she did was give me "advice". After a while I realized she was doing it for her own benefit...to look good in front of others.
It's a good thing I got put on bed rest early..I was "this" close to telling her a few things.

It got worse for me when I had the baby.....you will get so much unsolicited advice or comments.

I finally said if I want to know I will ask.

Ooooo I HATE it... Especially I have a woman at work that tells me what I HAVE to do... I HAVE to name my baby this, then followed me around the office repeating herself. She did it for a week. And still does it now... Every week she tells me another thing I just HAVE to do.... Like if i dont Im going to be a bad mother...

We haven't told anyone yet because I'm way too early on, but I'm already dreading all the advice I'm going to be getting from certain people in the family. DH's grandma is the queen of unsolicited advice and always thinking she knows best. I understand people mean well, but they're not always right, and it's your child so they need to mind their own business!

Oh, you've met my mother?

It stinks and I'm sorry you are going through it.

My favorite is how people who haven't been parents for 20+ years tell you not to pay attention to new safety guidelines that we all grew up 'just fine'.
