Unopened Taylor Swift Fan Mail Found in Dumpster
Well, this is awkward: Taylor Swift claims to looooove her fans ... so why were hundreds of unopened letters to the star found in a Nashville dumpster over the weekend? The woman who found the letters collected them and told local TV station WKRN, which confirmed that Swift does in fact receive fan mail at the PO Box to which the letters were addressed, and that a staffer picks it up regularly. Not surprisingly, pretty much every gossip outlet has picked up on the story, some amusingly:
• Richard Lawson's take at the Atlantic Wire: "Kids, if you really love Taylor Swift, simply write her a letter telling her so, and it will end up unopened in a dumpster sort of near her house."
• And Caity Weaver at Gawker: The letters, which were "covered with pictures, hearts, and sparkles" according to WKRN, were, surprisingly, not "letters Taylor Swift had written to her future self (Dear Taylor: I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean...)."
As for the official explanation, Swift's record company claims it has no idea what could have happened, and a spokesperson from her management team says they are concerned. The thousands of letters Taylor gets every day are "opened and read" and then recycled, she explains. "The only explanation would be that a small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed for the recycling center," says the rep. "We sincerely appreciate Channel 2 bringing this to our attention, and we plan to immediately pick up the mail."

Yeah, that sucks...but at the same time, I'm sure 90% of artists are the same way. It's a LOT of mail that people write. Not saying it's right though...

I don't see the big deal. I mean seriously nobody reads all their fan mail, it's impossible. I also was kind of like- people still write fan mail lol! I mean between twitter, fb, etc.

I Amit a huge fan of hers but I feel she kinda gets a raw deal...she dates a lot..who does not at that age lol
I mean yes stop writing songs about ur boyfriends but she is bringing in the dough and I just brought out the garbage so what so I know
Maybe it was a mistake maybe not but either way she will get crucified for this when it was prob somebody else that messed up

I can't stand her but this is just stupid.
These celebs get thousand of letters a day. Some of them get so many that they would need to pay at least 3 or more people as a full time employee to just sit there, open and read.
It isn't like she was actually going to read these all herself. No celebrity does. They just have smarter folks getting rid of the letters in private dumpsters so the media doesn't find them.

I have to agree. Have these guys never heard of a shredder?
But I wouldn't be surprised if Swifty DIDN'T know about it. It sounds like it's someone's job to pick up the mail and possibly sort through it. They were probably just lazy and said "eff this" and tossed it.
ETA: And anyone (who isn't a child) who thinks that out of the hundreds of thousands of fan letters these guys receive that they'll read and/or respond to them... they are insane. I'm not saying they don't read ANY letters, but probably a select few from their publicists.
