Re: Unexpected visitors

I really hate when anyone just drops by without calling to see if its ok first.
For example, I was about to jump in the shower, and someone was knocking on our door. I wasn't dressed for company, didn't shower yet and feel like crap because I have a cold. Needless to say, I didn't get the door. My DH was busy working out & didn't want to be bothered either. Ugh, why do people do that?

Re: Unexpected visitors

I like a nice call. My house is not messy as all I do is clean and straighten out but I would like a little notice so I can straighten out what mess I do have.

Re: Unexpected visitors

I like a call in adavance!! I have three children and some times things are a little hectic. It's nice to know when someone is going to stop in. Tydy up a little from the three of them and such.

Most of the time I usually don't care but honestly it rarely ever happens so that's probably why it's not a big deal to me.

Re: Unexpected visitors

I definitely appreciate a call in advance, that way I can make the house look a little presentable. Chat Icon

Re: Unexpected visitors

You've all answered that you prefer a little notice to tidy up the house a bit. Thats not what I worry about. I get upset because sometimes I didn't have time to shower or get dressed yet and I'm walking around in sweatpants and stuff,no makeup and hair that can get a bit scary at times.

Re: Unexpected visitors

I just think it's rude not to call ahead. When someone shows up I feel compelled to stay and visit rather than what I'd planned on doing that day.

I also hate when people call and ask if it's ok to drop by in a little while, and then take their sweet time (6 hours) to come! Chat Icon BIL does this all the time. We sit around waiting thinking he's coming any minute and before you know it the whole day is gone. Now we make him tell us what time he's coming.

Re: Unexpected visitors

I don't mind, I always tell people to come by anytime. Don't care about being showered, with an 18 month old what you see is what you get!

I would NEVER not answer the door for friends and family if they came by, I think thats ruder than the person not calling. Although I have been known to hide under the window for Jehovahs Witness or some other random annoyance back in the day.

On the other hand, I will always try to 99% of the time give a call to someone if I want to pop in.

Re: Unexpected visitors

I'd like a call in advance. I'd like to attempt to not be in PJ's & Patrick is a streaker in the house & I would prefer that his willy is hidden when people come by.Chat Icon

Re: Unexpected visitors

How do these people know if your not BD or something? The thing that bugs me also is that the people guilty of just popping over live in the same town so why couldn't they just give a quick call to see if its a good time for company?
