Yea but he's been on amox. 2x's before this- and hes on his 8th day of this round of meds- why would it take so long to show up?

I was just going to say this. Amoxicilin frequently causes rashes from what my doctor has told me. It's supposedly a normal side effect.

Don't know. But even with allergies, you can have a reaction the first time or not till the 1000th time you're exposed to something. I'd just keep my eye on his temp and what not.

Re: Ummm so yea

It looks like it could be an allergy to me. I generally give benadryl if I even THINK it's an allergic reaction. If it improves with the benadryl, it is probably an allergy. Good luck!

Re: Ummm so yea

I would Def try the benadryl, If it goes away, you know it's an allergy attack.

1/4 teaspoon we give DD.

Poor little guy, are they itching him?

Re: Ummm so yea

Have you contacted an allergist yet? I'd be curious what they have to say about everything poor Ryboy is going through.

Looks similar to Maddie's amoxicillan rash. I was told it wasn't an allergic reaction, but just a reaction.

Nope no fever-

Which is another reason I dont think its coxsackie... (and now I dont think its roseola too)

He has had a cold for weeks... and some eye "infection" which was just recently diagnosed to an allergy from something in the air...

He was put on an antibiotic- when he started tugging on his ears... and the Dr saw green boogies and said he saw the beg. stages of an infection...

I'm thinking late onset allergic reaction to the Amoxicillin? (possible penicillin allergy) DH had the same kind of rash and he got it at the end of his antibiotics.

Maddie's rash came out after a few days on amoxicillian - enough that she was almost done with it. Marissa - you need to call the ped. If I recall correctly they had me discontinue the dose.

It was on the trunk of her body, arms, etc. I had to take her out of daycare to get it checked out. Luckily the daycare teacher had the same thing happen to her a few weeks before with amoxicillian. She's the one that recognized it.

Re: Ummm so yea

UPdate:

The few on his leg are faded a bit....

However the ones on the back of his neck and under arms are still there- nohing has spread... no fever, he slept great, is eating fine and acting fine~

I dont know what to think!
I have to work til @ least 12 today- and then Ill call the Dr when pick him up from my moms...

In the event that I pick him up and hes fine (rash is gone) do you think I should still call the dr?

Re: Ummm so yea

Has he gotten any of his shots within the last 2-3 weeks? Alex had a very similar reaction to her MMR and Chicken pox shots

Re: Ummm so yea

Marisa--Has he had his 1 year blood work up yet? I feel since hes been sick so much, and now with this rash you might want to get his blood work done, just to determine what all this could be from, thats what I would do.....Chat Icon

Re: Ummm so yea

He had his MMR over a month ago- and we havent gottenthe chicken pox one yet...

NO bloodwork til 18 months my Dr said...

I also thought maybe we should do bloodwork BUT the Dr said since he has never really been "sick"- no fever and no infection... and its just been cold after cold or a "viral" infection there isnt any need to do blood work-

Ryan has never had a fever with the exception of the one trime he had coxsackie- therefore they dont feel there is really anything wrong

Re: Ummm so yea UPDATE

Of all, i hope it's the lesser of them all, an allergic reaction that will respond to benadryl. At least you can treat it.
I really hope he doesn't have pox!

I am with you, I despise the word VIRAL!

I learned something yesterday at the PED, if you take a rectal temp, and it's way below normal, like 95-96 degrees, it's viral infection, even if the ear or temperal temp is a feverish. Wierd right?

Gianna temperal was 100.6, ear was 101.1, and her rectal was 95.6, and 96.3, the dr took it 4 times.
