Um, so apparently I'll be birthing a one year old...
Went for my growth sono today and at 31w 6d, the baby is measuring...
...
5 lb, 6 oz
I've been half way between hysterical laughing and crying all day. It's between the 90th and 100th percentile for every single measurement The tech couldn't believe it (I've only gained 20lbs total so far and am a very very small person to begin with). The word "huge" was tossed about a number of times . So, I actually have to get another growth sono at 36w (1/22) and we'll go from there but it seems like we'll probably be scheduling a cesarean since there is absolutely no way they're going to let me attempt to give birth to a 9.5-11.5 lb baby (point of reference - the baby would be appx 10% of my pre-preggo body weight ).
For those with scheduled c's, around how many weeks are you scheduled? They wouldn't go into detail on that until we see the 36w but I'm just trying to get a frame of reference. I'm thinking around 38w - is that pretty average?

I know but they said the general rule is 1/2 lb... that's still 5 lb, 1oz OR 5 lb, 12oz And either way, they're off for everyone so the percentile thing is still fairly accurate. AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the kind words though

Dont worry! That is generally give or take a pound ! And Dont worry I just had a 9lb 14 oz 22.5 inch baby. he was the biggest in the nursery.
ETA: I just had a scheduled section, I didnt schedule until 2 days before. My baby was 10 ozs bigger than anticipated only 2 days before his birth. Read my birth story and let me know if you have any questions. For me it was the greatest thing and I am so glad I did a section. Good Luck!

I am in the same boat but mainly because I am diabetic. I get growth sonograms often and they said that my stomach is measuring big, but the baby measures in the 52nd percentile. My friend had an 11 pound baby. 3 days before she delivered, they estimated the baby's weight to be 8lb. 7 oz. The growth sonograms are often not accurate.

This late in the pregnancy, they can be off by up to 2lbs either way. At my growth sono at 34 weeks, dd was "measuring" 6lbs 1oz. The night before I delivered...I was told she was 7lbs 4 oz...when she was born the next day...she was 6lbs 1 oz.
Sometimes the estimates are close and sometimes they aren't. Don't worry too much about it.

I wouldn't worry too much, DS always measured big. The day before my induction, 6 days past my due date, I was told he was going to be over 9lbs. I had a vaginal delivery of a 7lb11oz baby boy.

My DD was measuring at 7.5 pounds at the 35 week sono. She was born 39w,4d and weighed 7lbs,6oz.
Those sonos/measurements are often WAY off.....

I wouldn't worry about it -- I was measuring HUGE -- and even at 10 days past my due date - my DD was a very average 8 lbs. 2 oz...

I had my growth sono at 37.5 weeks and my DS measured in the mid 7's and I was freaking out since I am very petite like you. He ended up being 8lbs 7ozs born 3 days early. And I did end up in a c-section.

Re: Um, so apparently I'll be birthing a one year old...
Thanks everyone I'm not as freaked out today, largely because there's nothing to do but wait until 1/22 (the next sono). DH and I talked and if it's better for me and the baby, we're all for the earlier c-section.
Merry Christmas!!

Re: Um, so apparently I'll be birthing a one year old...
I was a scheduled c at exactly 39 weeks (I also have a blood clotting disorder which is another reason why I was a scheduled c)
At 37w, 2d my dd was measuring at 8lb, 3oz and she was born 12 days later at 9lb, 8oz just to give you an idea

Thank you!!! It's so nice to have actual numbers to work with, I cannot conceptualize otherwise.
I had a dream-mare last night that we did the c-section, the baby was 9.5 lbs ... and only 18 inches long It was basically a round ball! Ah, the 22nd cannot come fast enough.
