Ultrasound guided transfer....

Ultrasound guided transfer ....Anyone have this done???...When I had my water sono- the RE said he was going to recommend this for me...Any experience with this ???...Of course I go ahead and start looking online and find conflicting opinions on whether it can affect an IVF outcome positively or negatively so I further make myself crazy...Chat Icon

Re: Ultrasound guided transfer....

It is not standard...each clinic does its own thing.....Cornell where I am does not do u/s guided transfers only in special cases like very tilted uterus or a "weird" shape of an uterus....which would make the transfer harder to do without using the u/s....

all the doctors there believe that it makes no difference in pregnancy rates whether you use it or not it might just make the transfer easier in some cases...

Re: Ultrasound guided transfer....

All my transfers were ultrasound guided...it's standard procedure with my RE.
I would think it does make a difference as they can make sure the put the embryos right in the lining.

Re: Ultrasound guided transfer....

This is what I will be having. My RE does it so that they know exactly where in the uterus they are putting the embryo. They want to place the embryo in the upper part of your uterus.

Re: Ultrasound guided transfer....

Thanks guys...At least now I know I'm not a freak or something LOL !....When he did my water sono, they had a hard time with the soft catheter but the catheter he used for my trial transfer went good so I guess he just doesnt want to take any chances....

Re: Ultrasound guided transfer....

Because they use the ultrasound it is actually the coolest part about the whole IVF - you can actually see the embryos being placed!!

I can't wait to do it again Chat Icon
