Ultrascreen?

Did you have one? I am 29, and none of our blood relatives have any chromosomal disorders, so I am don't know if we should do it. BUT at the same time I would want to know early if there's something wrong (heaven forbid!!!!)

Insurance probably doesn't cover this test? I have to call mine on Monday to find out.

We went in for our 10 wks appt today and saw our little bean, well, he/she not a bean no more! I kept on saying "oh wow, it has arms, legs and everything, it's like a real baby!" Yes, I am an idiot Chat Icon
We also met Dr. Hanauer for the first time. I heart her Chat Icon

Re: Ultrascreen?

I went for mine a couple weeks ago and ended up being too far along to do it........they did do a sono though. My insurance covers......I just had to pay the co-pay for a "specialist" visit. $40.00. I have Oxford. ETA: My doctor did do some bloodwork this week that is supposed to determine a similar outcome to the ultrascreen test.

Re: Ultrascreen?

I had the ultrascreen done the day before my 29th birthday. I wanted to be prepared just in case something was wrong. My insurance covered the test.

It should be covered by insurance. I think it is routine now.Chat Icon

Re: Ultrascreen?

I had the ultrascreen done (I'm 27). None of our blood relatives had any chromosomal disorders either, but we figured we would be safe and get it done (our insurance covered it). It was also another chance to see our baby, which is always fun!!

It is so funny to see how quickly they go from a little bean to a little baby!! I had my first sono at about 8 weeks and the ultrascreen at about 12 and couldn't believe how much of a baby she had turned into already!

Re: Ultrascreen?

I had it done
many chromosomal disorders are not hereditary
the fact that it is non invasive and over 90% accurate was important to me

Re: Ultrascreen?

I opted to have it. It was covered by insurance and I would want to know if something were wrong.
