Re: Ultrascreen
What Is Ultra-Screen®? Ultra-Screen® is a First-trimester prenatal screening protocol designed to provide patient specific risk for Down Syndrome, trisomy 18 and other chromosomal abnormalities. Ultra-Screen® combines ultrasound measurement of the fluid accumulation behind the neck of the fetus (nuchal translucency) with maternal serum markers and is the earliest and most effective Down Syndrome screen available.
I go tomorrow for mine! Where are you going? When they called to confirm, I asked if I needed to do anything special and she no.......eat & drink normally. I am pretty sure it will be a bunch of questions, a fiinger prick for the blood test & the sonogram.

Re: Ultrascreen
They look at the baby on a sonogram and take a whole bunch of measurements and then they prick your finger and put like 3 dots of blood in little circles on a piece of paper. It isnt like drawing blood, its more of a finger prick. They dont tell you anything right there, you have to wait for the results. Good Luck!

THank you. This was very helpful. I am going in Babylon. Do you know if the sonogram is internal?

Re: Ultrascreen
Mine was only an external sonogram and they actually drew a small amount of blood. The nurse said she felt that it's more difficult to get a good sample from a finger prick then it is to just draw a small amount of blood. I was nervous beforehand and in the end the whole test was not really a big deal. Try not to worry and good luck!!

For me it wasn't a finger prick test. They took the blood from my arm.
Maybe every place is different, I got my done at Long Island Jewish.
