Ugh...should I be concerned?
I have an upper respiratory infection, the nastiest cough EVER. It hurts like hell to cough, and nothing really comes up. I'm almost scared to choke.
But the worst part...warning TMI
For months when I blow my nose it's always been blood tinged, I've even had minor nosebleeds. But now that I'm coughing up mucus....it's got blood in it. Sometimes it's a little stream of it...
From what I've read, there's more blood in the respiratory tract during pregnancy so I am probably okay. But it is just so alarming to see myself coughing that up...
Please tell me I'm not alone here! Thanks!

You poor thing! My doctor approved Robitussin and Mucinex when I had bronchitis. Have you taken anything?

Re: Ugh...should I be concerned?
i had the same problem when i had bronchitis last month - Dr said it was probably a combination of the increased blood in the area due to pregnancy AND the fact that I was irritating my throat from coughing/vomiting with the morning sickness.
I'm pretty sure it's "normal"
I hope you feel better soon!!!

Re: Ugh...should I be concerned?
My doc let me take robitussin and I have a z-pack.
He didn't say bronchitis...he said it COULD be that...but he really just called it an upper respiratory infection. This is just hell.
It's the blood that is really freaking me out. Did you have that too?

Re: Ugh...should I be concerned?
honestly T - if i were you - i'd call a pharmacy and ask that question (unless you want to call the OB or doc on call)...
here's a 24 hour pharmacy near my house & their phone number: 908-757-6495. tell the person who answers - you want to ask the pharmacist a quick question....

yes- i had a decent amount of blood in my mucus... sometimes there was some blood when I dry coughed too. My throat was raw - I'm sure yours is too.
I felt like I was RUN OVER BY A TRUCK for about 3 days, then it gradually got better.
I also had a z-pack and robitussin. I was allowed to use Chloraseptic for the insane throat pain too.

Yikes, you poor thing. My throat feels like it's on fire thanks to all this coughing. One of my 1st graders was sweet...my voice sounded awful, I started coughing and he said "I feel sorry for you"
I should be letting all come up though right? Cough it out? I'm almost scared to...because the blood is so alarming and it just plain HURTS. Plus, I'm almost scared to choke.

Feel better, Tara! although the blood is scary, i 've been noticing that just when I blow my nose and I am not even sick. I would call the dr. or a pharamacist if you're really worried though...
take care of yourself!

I had the exact same thing, My doc said it's from the sinus's dripping down kinda like post nasal drip. So It starts in your sinuses and goes down so since you have a bloody nose you will cough up blood. It freaked me out too. But now I notice that if i cough up blood i try to blow my nose and It's bloody. So i'm a little bit more at ease. Hope it gets better for you.

Re: Ugh...should I be concerned?
I always see blood when I blow my nose since early in my 1st trimester. Someone posted something on there the other day about pregnancy rhinitus. I feel like I have had a constant sinus infection. It's so annoying.
