Ughhh DOCTOR VENT!
Ok, so for starters, I have been sick on and off for the past 2 months. Last week, I started to get very sick and have the flu. Since Wednesday night, I have been dealing with ongoing fevers, no appetite, chills, sweats, you name it....... My dr said to call if I develop any new or unusual symptoms.
Well, today on top of all my other symptoms, my eye started getting very itchy and it looked like I got a hive on my eyelid. It got a little puffy and very uncomfortable. Then I got a hive on my leg! Sooooo I called my dr's office but they were gone for the day so they connected me with the dr on call (who wasn't my dr, unfortunately) When I explained to him the situation that I have the flu, yada yada... and he asks me who told me I have the flu, and that I don't sound sick AT ALL! And, that I sound totally fine! (at this point, I'm in the process of sweating through a fever) I explained to him, that first of all, I didn't call for a diagnosis. And second, told him that he was making a REALLY inaccurate assessment if he was going to go based on my voice. I told him that when I talk to professionals on the phone, regardless of how I feel, I try to sound professional, and he has a nerve to tell me I'm not at all sick. I said that earlier today I had to talk to my principal where I work to explain why I have been out, and I sounded professional then too.
I just COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS NUT! I have had an ongoing fever for the past 5 days, no appetite, and he's telling me I'M FINE! That's a great idea, why don't we always assess people based on their voices?!?! They would save a ton of room in the ER!
I can't wait to tell MY dr how I was treated by the dr on call. I hate being spoken to like that and made to feel like I am crazy.
