ugh vent

So DH just called me & said he called Quest in Syosset to schedule an appt for SA (I guess he thought he could just call & come in & drop off the goods) & Quest said they are all booked.
He has to call back the week of the 18th to get an appt!

I am annoyed b/c I am supposed to go for my CD3 internal on the 20th & I was hoping we would have the SA results by then...guess not!
GRRRR!!!

is Quest the only lab you can use?
Did you try the north shore university hospital labs to see if they accept your insurance?

No I havnt- Dr. B said Quest is best for our insurance (Empire)..

I guess worse comes to worse we will just wait to get the results..

I have some excellent advice!!

I had this SAME problem when I called to make an appt to drop off for an SA! I was frustrated because I remember calling at the end of the week and they said I needed to call back on Monday to make the appointment but the following week was completely booked I wanted to get it done already and gather all the information we needed to move forward.. I'm sure that's how you feel now!

Anyway, I made a few calls and told someone at Quest my story and she said she was not officially "allowed" to tell me this advice- but if you bring the sample to the lab,they are NOT allowed to turn you away!!! She said that even though she was not "supposed to" tell me that, she said if I just show up, they must do the SA- and that is advice she was told to give someone once recently by her boss.

Well, I showed up at the Syossett Quest lab in the morning (I believe they open around 8 or 8:30 ) and they DID give me a hard time, but I told them that someone over the phone told me that I could just bring it in and made no mention of an appointment (I played dumb ) Ultimately, they took it. It's honestly not the most comfortable way to go about it since you're technically supposed to have an appointment, but someone at Quest DID give me this advice so I went with it and exactly a week later we had the results.

I figured I'd post this here rather than FM in case someone else would find this useful!

No problem! Just be persistent! You have to figure they're going to be annoyed that you're just popping in and they will try and tell you to come back- but really they are not allowed to turn you away so just be persistent, say that you were told you could just come and you will not be able to come back and went through a huge inconvenience to get there that morning.

I just called DH & told him what you said..he is going to do this..hes also going to throw in the fact that hes a PO who doesnt have timne to be sitting around waiting for an appt.

I had to use a Quest lab also and my husband went to one on the Upper East Side in the City. Not sure if he works in the city, but if he does its an option.

DH called last week to get an appt for his SA at the Quest in Syosset and couldnt get an appt til this thursday. I was annoyed too that we had to wait!
