UGH Repronex
I am 5 days into Stimming on 1 powder of Repronex and 100 units of Follistim. The Follistim is no big deal at all...the Repronex on the other hand...
It stings so bad and I wake up with these HUGE welts under my skin and I can hardly sit up straight without being in pain. I was so surprised so I asked my IVF nurse if this was common and she said no, but currently 6 other girls are on it and are having the same symptoms. She thinks maybe "it is just a bad lot". My question...has this happened to anyone before and/or why would they keep me on it if it is a BAD lot?

Repronex does sting and cause welts often...at least with me
Make sure that the needle is dry b/c if it hits your skin...ouch!!
make sure the alcohol is dry as well
and, let it sit for 10-15 minutes afte you mix/ before injecting...big difference

My RE told me that repronex can have this effect and that is why he prefers menopur. He said the sting and welts are not nearly as bad on menopur as they are on repronex.

I couldn't stand Repronex either. It stung going in and left red welts on my stomach.

Weird that the nurse said that wasn't normal, b/c from what I read/hear, it seems that repronex is infamous for irritation. A friend of mine calls it reproburn.

I mixed my Repronex with my Gonal-F and there was a definite sting when I injected, but only once did I get a welt...I wonder if it was because it was only one vial mixed with 3 Gonals??

Maybe...the Repronex feels very potent and i only use one powder.
I really just have to suck it up and deal with the pain. I was told that it is working though, so I am grateful! My RE didn't tell me how many follicles he saw but I saw him mark off 6 little circles on one side yesterday (after 4th day of Stims). All he said was "the process has started and you are responding nicely". I go back in tomorrow morning for another u/s and blood. I hope I get more detailed news!
