Ugh, feeling REALLY frustrated, anxious and impatient. (long vent)

I just have to get out what I have been feeling. Some tmi info involved as it relates to some symptoms.

So, I know that I am still 6 days early but it's been 48 hours since I lost my mucus plug. Since then, I have noticed small dime to quarter size amounts in the toilet on occasional trips to the bathroom, but I firmly believe I pretty passed the whole thing on Wed AM and this is just um, remnants. Also I guess a sign that it's continuing to be "lost" and not regenerating, but I think I am too far along for that to happen anyway.

Also, after being constipated for the last 2 weeks or so, I am finally going to the bathroom again like twice a day-- with urges to go at other times. I know that stomach "issues" are another sign that you are entering labor, and while I am not experiencing a full blown stomach ache, etc., these changes are significant enough to me since I was having such difficulty going before that something has changed.

I have been running around the last two days, doing errands and trying to get stuff done around the house-- getting it "ready for primetime". I *think* sometimes I am experiencing early contractions, with some cramps and back pain-- but, then they slow down and nothing else happens. Just when I think things are starting to heat up, they slow down. The anticipation is killer.

THEN with sleeping-- I keep waking up and because I am so anxious, because I feel I am on the verge of labor, I cannot get back to sleep. My mind is racing with all of these thoughts, things I should put on a list to take care of, etc. I mean, my life is about to change-- whether it's in a few hours, or a week or two and my mind is really starting to deal with that fact. Especially at 3 AM.

I am also very anxious about my girls name. We are still Team Chat Icon, but as you guys know, I am hoping for a girl. Let's put it this way, the name I picked out years ago is in the news every freakin day as there is now a very well-known person with this name that is constantly in the spotlight. I specifically picked this name because well, I liked it and it was not *too* common, which is important to me. Now I feel like if I have a girl, there will be a lot more with the same name, and people will think I named my little girl after this person. I know it seems silly, but this is another stupid thing that is bothering me and keeping me up at night.

The overall feeling is kinda similar to the 2WW, where you analyze EVERYTHING-- wondering if it's a "sign", but amplified so much more since the life changes are really upon you. The anticipation is the absolute worst, and I just want to get the damn show on the road. I am a very pragmatic and rational person, but I have never been patient. I just can't take it anymore!!!!

I'm sorry you're feeling this way Randi!!

I wish sometimes this was an exact science ya know? I know in our child birth class, we were told everything you've been expericing can just be signs of early labor and it can still take a week or two to actually go into labor.

I know it's not what you want to hear though.... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

As far as the name is concerned, I think that if you love the name, you should go with it. It sounds like you've loved it for a long time and you shouldn't have to give that up since there's now a star with that name.
I can imagine when I'm as close to labor as you are, I'm going to be freaking out as well. All I can really offer are some Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon and remind you how close you are to being a Mommy--there's got to be no greater thing in the world. Try and take it easy. It will all come together and certainly be worth it in the end. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Try to relax. Everything is going to work out just fine! You know we had plenty of "issues" regarding our daughter's name.

I am waiting anxiously in FL for some news. Chat Icon

Actual the glass of wine idea might be the trick.. A coworker of mine said her OB told her to have a glass, when she was in your situation and it helped her. How about calling him/her and asking? It may just be the trick you need to get the ball rolling faster. Dont worry about the name.. no matter what you name your baby someone will have a comment to make.

re: the wine.... My friend is an L&D Nurse at Columbia and when girls come in with early contractions, but too early to deliver, the drs send them home and she said the nurses always tell them to go home, drink a glass of wine, relax, and have sex. (the sex really does work if you're up to it). But the wine part is just to get your body and mind to relax. It's friday....why don't you and your DH have a chill out night at home with some wine and do that. It might just do the trick!

Hang in there!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I wish I could give you more than just wishing your baby comes sooner than later!!!

I really think you should not worry about the girls name.. if you love it, you love it.. and just because there is someone in the news, shouldnt make you change your mind!!!

I must admit.. I am now trying to guess what the name is... I have a couple of ideas... I hope for you that you come to terms with a name, that you get everything done that has to get done before the baby gets here, and I hope that you make it through this tough time as well as possible.. just know.. the prize at the end is unbelievable!!! (Or so everyone keeps telling me!)

Don't even give the name another thought...if you love it, you love it and that's it.
I cant imagine what you're going through because I am not there yet so I won't say relax because I know, easier said than done probably...

Re: Ugh, feeling REALLY frustrated, anxious and impatient. (long vent)

thanks everyone-- the name is REALLY stressing me out...

Tonight, we have a family dinner in the city for both DH's and MIL's birthday-- so my due date is totally appropriate in terms of timing (Jan is a HUGE month of birthdays for DH's side), but a quiet night at home ain't happening-- unless I am in labor already!!

I guess I can have some wine at dinner-- although I hate doing that in public.

Ok, going to walk on the treadmill now...

I can only imagine how anxious you feel. I feel incredibly anxious and ready for this pregnancy to be over and I am only 31 weeks.

Re: Ugh, feeling REALLY frustrated, anxious and impatient. (long vent)

randi, i went back to the last posts that i wrote before i gave birth and i found this one - which i wrote 6 days before my due date, 3 days before i gave birth:

"ladies, i think i have finally reached the point of complete misery in this pregnancy.

last week i was able to go for a (light - VERY light) jog. today i can barely walk. EVERYTHING hurts - my belly, my joints - EVERYTHING.

i can't lift my legs up to put on my pants. i can't cross my legs over my lap to tie my shoes or put lotion on my feet. i'm so exhausted i can't even think straight

i can barely eat because the heartburn is so bad. i've lost a pound every week for the last 3 weeks because of this

my baby is kicking me so hard that i have entire areas of my belly with nerve damage

i just NEED to have this baby already. of course, i could be holding him in my arms right now, but i'm the JERK who said NO to induction. i know it was the right decision for my baby, but I'M SO MISERABLE"

so yeah, i think being frustrated, anxious, and impatient is common and normal at this stage...

i agree with everyone above, i would have yourself a nice glass of wine to relax. i did this the night before i gave birth and it really helped to take my mind off stuff.

about the name... it's a tough call. do you have an alternative name in mind? if so, maybe see how you feel when she comes out and you hold her in your arms (assuming, of course, that it's a 'she')? also, have you considered sharing the name with at least some people (either friends in real life, or even on here) who can give you their objective opinions about it?

Re: Ugh, feeling REALLY frustrated, anxious and impatient. (long vent)

thanks Alex-- I know everything that I feel is normal and I am not the only one.

I guess I started to freak out when I lost the plug, and now I am just feeling-- let's get on with it!!!

With the name, my mom knows the name-- and one or two other people. I think it's probably just a big deal right now, and in a few months, or even a year-- it won't matter. This name is VERY timely- but I don't have alternatives and I am honestly too lazy to look for one. I just don't have the energy at this point in the pregnancy. But, I still cannot escape the anxiety I am feeling about it...
