For almost 10 years -
1st - B/c I wanted to 2nd - B/c I felt it was the 'right' thing to do 3rd - B/c I felt guilty to do for my Mom and not his 4th - For my DH (even though he could care less) 5th - For my son .........
Now - I'm over it. The days of me doing ANYTHING to even remotely go out of my way for her are over and done with - and after 10 years of trying, I have exhausted all of my guilt !!!

She likes to try to invite herself places.
But seems to always have an excuse not to do something.

Re: ugh, do you ever try to include your mil & then regret it?
yes. yes. yes. FIL too. But I'm learning. In fact, I was going to ask them to come and watch DS's last swimming lesson, to be nice, but then I decided against it bc they always make things more difficult for me.

Re: ugh, do you ever try to include your mil & then regret it?
Well I have to tell this story. I felt sorry for my husbands aunty who has only one son with no wife/kids and her husband died recently. I invited her and her son to Thanksgiving dinner. She yelled at the kids several times for just being kids and to appease her they basically ended up watching tv upstairs. But that is not the worst part. She told me to be quiet at dinner, the dinner that I cooked. I let it go but then when I was in the kitchen cleaning up laughing with my sill, she yelled at me from the other room," M, lower your voice!" I was like ***? IN FACT EVERYONE WAS QUITE STUNNED. She wanted to dominate evereything and believe me I learned my lesson!
