Ugh, can't go to sleep
I fell asleep around 9 last night since I was so tired. Usually around 8-10pm, my puts on a rock show in my belly and kicks that entire time. She kicked maybe once or twice last night, but that's all. Now I've been up every couple of hours to see if I can feel her kick (which is kind of dumb since she is pretty chill after 10). Now I'm all hormonal and worried and afraid something is wrong since I'm barely feeling anything. The logical part of me thinks everything is ok, but now I completely freaked myself out. And it's not even 4am .

Re: Ugh, can't go to sleep
You know best what's going on with you, so do whatever you need to in order to feel comfortable!!! Even if it's staying up all night to do kick counts.
But really, get sleep NOW because you have to feed a newborn every 2 - 3 hours, start to start... so if they take 40 min to eat, you have 1h 20 m between feedings to change a diaper, you use the bathroom, try to sleep, then do it again... for the first two weeks!!!
It gets a little better after 2 weeks when you no longer have to wake them and force them to eat but then they usually wake themselves every 2-3 hours. It's a lot of work is my point. But sooooo worth it!!

Re: Ugh, can't go to sleep
Whenever I feel like there is an odd gap in movement I usually massage my belly a bit. Try to find their butt or head. Usually it pisses them off and they start kicking, probably trying to get comfy again.

Re: Ugh, can't go to sleep
Thanks, ladies! I have a friend who is a nurse at one of the biggest NICUs in the country. She does late shifts, so luckily she was online last night! She told me to drink orange juice or something sugary and count some kicks. It took a few minutes, but put on a show for me . I haven't really gotten any sleep since I was too upset, but I'm feeling a lot better!
