Ugghh-Mortgage going up again!!
It's actually our taxes but I have the choice of either paying $100 more a month or paying now $670 and have it go up $40/month!! I am crossing my fingers that our taxes will cover my medical bills AND this extra so the bill will not go up too much. It is ridiculous that they need so much in escrow!!

I am so sorry to hear that. Can you have your taxes seperated from your mortgage so that you are responsible for them on your own?
We don't have our mortgage company collect our taxes for the very reason you have cited - they were estimating our taxes as 3000 a month and our entire years taxes are slightly more than one month of the "escrow."

Oh one thing, you need to be vigilant with it, b/c our town had sent our tax bill to the mortgage company. The mortgage co did not tell us, and the tax collector had no idea that we were responsible for them on our own. I called up our tax collector before they were due and told her that we are responsible for them and not the mortgage co. Had I not called myself, I am afraid of what would have happened. So that is the only thing. You need to keep on top of it. But it saved us lots of money and we get to keep/make interest ourselves.
Call your mortgage co first and then call the tax collector to let them know that you are responsible for the taxes.

Thanks sooo much. I would rather make the interest in my savings account then the mortgage company!!

Oh fyi - check to see how many times a year they are collected. Ours is 4 times a year. But your may be more or less.
