two questions about breast pump

first if you registered for one, did you get it and whom got it for you???

second, my dh cousin is having a baby and is registered for a breast pump. i have one (ameda brand) and was going to ask if she wants it as her baby shower gift - i would get her all the new parts - which will cost me about 50-75$$ - is that weird???? really the only old thing is the base/pump. it would be as if she was getting a brand new pump for a fraction of the cost

Re: two questions about breast pump

I registered but I ended up getting it myself for cheaper on ebay (new).
Not weird since the parts will be new. Ask I don't see why she would be offended or not like the idea. DOes she know about the shower?

Re: two questions about breast pump

I also got my pump on ebay (saved a hundred dollars)... I would just make sure that she wants that particular pump... i know i was very picky with mine because i knew i only wanted to pump, not bf... so i chose an easier to clean avent pump... someone offered me their pump but it involved cleaning tubing and that was something i had no desire to do

Re: two questions about breast pump

I did not register for one. I had my heart set on BFing but I thought having someone "invest" $300+ into a pump would automatically apply a weird pressure to me.

Personally, I wouldn't be too thrilled to receive a "used" breast pump even if you did replace all the parts. I have heard motors in breast pumps can go at any time for no rhyme or reason and can be expensive to fix which usually isn't worth it.

I wound up getting my breast pump from BRU with all the gift cards I received from my baby shower. I think I went out and bought it when Ryan was about a month old and I could really see myself BFing for the long haul.
