The breakaway has a cruise out of ny to no where. It just cruises out, sea days, no ports, its in the winter months january and february of 2014, has anyone done anything like this? Is it worth it? I imagine that its go to br freezing cold. I guess I'm wondering if there's enough to do?

I don't like those because they are usually very expensive for 2 days. There's probably a show or 2, meals, stuff like that but for $700 total? Not worth it IMO. I can go on a longer cruise to an actual port for not much more than that.

I've never done one of those short cruises out of NY, but when I went on a cruise to Alaska (in August), it was pretty chilly on the ship and not a whole lot to do - look at the scenery (gorgeous) except drink! (not that that's so bad!) (they had activities during the day, but nothing I was too interested in - things like ice carving, lectures on differnt topics, some games etc).

Re: two night cruise

We had done a 1 night cruise in october for my bach. party way back when. It was only like $150/person then.

I think the prices are high. You should also be aware that the water may be pretty rough that time of year.

Where did you see $500? The cheapest I saw was $249pp + taxes and fees = Over $700. For 2 nights in the middle of the ocean in the middle of winter? No thanks! lol

ETA: I'm going on the ship on Sunday. As far as I know, many of the best things about the ship are the outdoor activities that you will not likely be able to do in January or February.

Good post...I'm looking into surprising hubby for his bday in January, and was going to book a weekend in AC! This is actually cheaper because it includes all our meals! Borgata is almost 300 a night and doesn't include anything! I think it's a fun weekend getaway and I'm booking for the 17th!

Something else to keep in mind is that short cruises to nowhere tend to have a pretty wild and rowdy crowd, with not much to do but drink and party. A friend of mine was a dj on several cruise ships and said it wad pretty common for passengers to get out of hand on the cruises to nowhere.

On top of that, I agree with above posters that price is a bit high for 2 days.

I do agree a little bit with this, but the price of this 2 day cruise is a bit high, so really not sure how much of the rowdy crowd will be willing to shell out this kind of money! It will weed some people out!

That's a good point and you're probably right!
