Twin Moms or Mom's of two young children-bath related

So Jenna inspired me with pics of Charlie and Jack in the tub a few days ago. My kids always cried when I put them in before but I tried it the other day and now they love it. I have been having my DH help me so far but he will be away this week so how do I bathe them, together in the big tub? The bathroom is relatively small. I don't think I can get them undressed 1 at a time safely and what about taking them out? Do I just let one crawl around naked while I get the other dressed? I am just so confused about how to do this myself

How about bathe and dress one, plop him in the crib or something close to the bathroom and then bathe the other. IDK, I could never handle twins. I have a hard enough time with one.Chat Icon

I would think you'd need to do one at a time until they get a bit bigger unless your DH is around then they can have their party bath. I've done it with 2 small kids but never the same age so I think it would be too hard for one person if one of them isn't a little older and more sturdy in the tub. I think the undressing/dressing part is less of an issue than holding onto 2 wet wiggly babies, even if you have a bath seat for them.

I think as long as you get them both in diapers quick after the bath you should be fine, then let the other run around in a diaper till your ready to get that one changed. As long as you can handle them in the tub together you should be fine. It'll be a fun experience lol.

Re: Twin Moms or Mom's of two young children-bath related

I've never bathed two little ones, but I used to babysit for a set of twins and was there when they were bathed.

When they were little the parents would bring diapers into the bathroom...they would bring both girls in, get them undressed and put them in the tub. When they were done they would take one girl out, lay her on the bathroom floor dry her off quickly (not the hair) and put on her diaper, then they would move her close to the door and they would take the other twin out and do the same for her. Once diapers were on they would bring them into their bedroom and dry their hair (one was in the crib while the other was being dressed) and put their pjs on. By the time I started babysitting them at 12 months their parents were pros at the double bathing. When I first started they had bath seats, so they knew the one in the bath would not fall over into the water.

Thank you! They are not in bath seats maybe I'll have to invest in those..

Re: Twin Moms or Mom's of two young children-bath related

I have always bathed my twins together. I have my dh on call so that when it is time for them to get out he can grab on as I take the other out. WHat inspired me to do this was last summer when they were in the kiddie pool. I saw they liked playing and it took me a little while to get used to it but it works.

IF I was by myself I'd put a towel down next to me, lay them both down on it, and go from there.

I heard bath seats are a no-no.

I thinking of getting one of those bigger inflatable tubs to bathe them together in.

I didn't have twins but my 2 are 15 months apart and I was bathing them together since day one. When DD was in the infant tub I use to put that in the big tub and DS would sit in front of her.
When DD was out of the infant tub around 9 months I would take out the little one and put her on the floor then take out the bigger one.
My friend has twins and she always gave them a bath together and always did it alone since her kids went to bed earlier than her DH came home from work and she would dress them in the bathroom.

Once Eliza was able to start sitting unsupported (about 6 months) we started bathing her and Mads together. I bathe them both, then take one out to dry ,then the other. I dress them both in the bathroom.

At 3 years old, I still never bathe them together without DH helping to get them dressed afterwards. If I'm on my own, I bathe them separately.

could you get them down to diapers, bring them to the bathroom, put one in a bumbo, take the other's diaper off and put him in the tub, then quickly take the other out of the bumbo, take his diaper off, and get him in the tub too?

I do it alone - I bring pjs lotion diapers and all that stuff in the bathroom....put them both on a towel and very fast get them changed. One usually gets away naked but the bathroom is small so they don't get far!

I actually leave my DD (9.5 months) fully naked for a bit after a bath, and undress her in her nursery and just bring her into the bathroom naked. After the bath, I wrap her in a towel and bring her straight back to her nursery. I dry her off, and let her crawl around a bit (diaperless). I like to give her a bit of time without the diaper on. She's never had an accident. I think she pees in the tub and is all done after that. You could get your boys undressed in their room, bring them in the tub, bathe them, and then carry them both back to their room before you dress them. You can tend to one while the other crawls around the room.
